1. As enthusiastic as 2008?
No. But, I approve of how he's handled the job for the most part and will happily vote for him and fight to give him liberal majorities in Congress so we can get more done.

lost my enthusiatic support...I am not one who blames Obama for repub obstructionism...I understand that repubs have fillubustered in record pace and will stop any bill that will help this country...not Obama's fault. And in the face of all of this he gets this done --> www.whatthefuckhasobamadonesofar.com AMAZING! :-) NOW LETS VOTE IN MORE DEMS INTO CONGRESS (not DINOs this time).

4. He has never had my enthusiastic support
Only my support. A conservative democrat is preferred to a right wing extremist any day. To get my enthusiastic support he would need to become more liberal.

5. He's got my support by default...But he'd have to come up with Obama 2.0 to make it enthusiastic
Edited on Wed Aug-17-11 11:23 AM by Armstead
He'd have to retool and become Less Corporate Centrist Wishy Washy ConservaDem and more of a Fighting Liberal, and mean it.

7. Define 'support'.
Do you mean running about shouting that you 'support' him, or actual support such as electing Democrats to Congress, registering voters, that sort of thing? I see many people from areas that send him Republicans absolutely demand that they are the 'supporters' while anyone with a policy criticism is a 'basher'. If you were President, which form of 'support' would you like to have? The kind with votes or the kind with verbiage but nothing else?
Folks self declare as 'supporters' and then do many things that I'd say are counterproductive in the name of their 'support'. I imagine them knocking on doors to say 'So I guess you want President Bachmann? You ain't got shit!' to registered Democrats, as they do here, and it gives me pause in terms of what is and what is not actual support.
Knock knock. "OFA here to tell you to stop setting your hair on fire and chill the fuck out, what are you, some sort of insider? Also, don't forget to vote!"
Hard to see how it works. Do they call up Democrats and say "Cut out the poutrage, you pony wanting whiner. Vote Obama"?

8. Looks more or less like what I expected.
Most DUers support Obama: those who don't do so admit that there's no way they would support him, so the claims of it being based on legitimate reasons are bullshit.

9. Yes, he can
I want Obama to make a much stronger case for progressive taxes and social services, and to attack the Tea Party for it's extremism--the fact that they want to dismantle Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security, health care reform, consumer protection, anti-discrimination laws, etc. I want him to expose the Tea Party for what it really is -- generally speaking, angry bitter white people who are looking to blame government for their bad luck and failures. Liberalism is the answer to our economic and social woes, and if Obama makes that case, he gets my enthusiastic support, meaning I'll give money and make phone calls.

12. The only way Obama can regain lost enthusiastic support is through his actions,
because those who no longer have enthusiastic support for him will no longer believe his words or promises unless they are backed up by action.

It's the old fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice shame on me.

13. if he can get people working again
provide relief to millions of people in desperate circumstances.

That was a promise he has made, by the way.

If he keeps that promise, I would be more than enthusiastic about him, I would worship him.
