Lee's Summit mom says son's painful rash healed after Facebook friend suggested switching car seats
Source: NBC Action News

LEE'S SUMMIT, Mo. - Anya Ansley and her 5-month-old, Eli, are smiling a lot more these days.

For most of the summer, the Lee’s Summit mother and her baby boy have stayed cooped up inside the house, trying to get rid of a painful rash on his arms and legs that refused to heal.

Ansley’s pediatrician diagnosed a bad case of eczema. Weeks later, the assessment did not change when she sought a second opinion at Children’s Mercy Hospital. Steroid creams and other treatments did not seem to make a difference.

“He was crying and there was nothing I could do to help him,” said Ansley. “It was so frustrating.”

Nearing her breaking point, Ansley vented on Facebook after a particularly rough outing in the car. As a status update, she typed, “Nearly 30 minutes in the car seat this morning and Eli’s eczema is raging. I’m gonna lose my mind.”

3. the chemicals that babies
are exposed to are terrible for them. Other countries have established limits for babies and children. Not the US - voluntary by the manufacturers. Can't stand to see the cribs made of particle board - urea formaldehyde.
New sheets and cribs sets with bumpers - urea formaldehyde.

5. It's probably eczema, even if seat caused it
Just because some external source causes an eczema flareup doesn't mean that you don't have eczema. Here's a good link : http://www.infantseczema.com. It would probably be a good idea to keep the steroid creams and other treatments around. The eczema isn't going to go away, although the symptoms might be dormant for a long time. Stress and Republicans have been known to cause me to break out.

Doctors are unlikely to misdiagnose eczema because so many of them have it. Washing your hands a bazillion times a day can cause chronic skin irritation.

Also watch out for asthma. I have both eczema and asthma and it would have been a great help if I had found out earlier than I did that the two are probably related.

6. I understand about the stress and republicans.
I get hives sometimes, because of stress and repubbies.

The more I laugh at the asshats, the faster the hives go away.

7. Indeed
The two are related. You have to be careful. I started as a baby with eczema and it translated itself into asthma that I have fought all my life along with a dandy bunch of allergies. Came across a few superb doctors along the way that kept me alive and helped. Now I just take one pill per day and watch carefully for the food allergy items.

It's manageable, but one always has to be careful.
