Debt deal sets stage for epic ideological clash in 2012
Edited on Wed Aug-03-11 08:19 AM by ProSense
Greg Sargent:

* Debt deal sets stage for epic ideological clash in 2012: The debt ceiling deal yesterday sounded the opening gun in the 2012 elections. Both parties are already drawing hard lines on what they expect the “super-committee” created by the debt deal to do on taxes and entitlements. Republicans are already insisting that they won’t appoint anyone who will raise revenues. Dems claim they won’t allow it to touch entitlements benefits and will insist on tax hikes, though liberals are highly skeptical that they’ll abide by that promise.

The debt deal has ensured that these battles, over what seem to be intractable ideological divides, will frame the 2012 elections.

1. How big can the Clash be???? The Conservative Wing of the
Democratic Party and Republican Conservatives????

We will see a show but Liberals are irrelevant in the end.

The Policy will be Conservative setting up for a Republican
Takeover.

We saw clearly Obama, Conservadems and Republicans can
work together and put through the Debt Ceiling.

Maybe liberals need to put up a bigger show.

The clash described will be along ideological lines. It's not going to be hard to choose which side of the line to stand on.

5. If they go hard right with their appointees I hope Nancy responds in kind
though it is beginning to look like a gladitorial contest to the death.
