1. I highly encourage everyone to do this.
It took me less than 10 minutes to do! I used to call ALL of them but I stuck with the Ohio folks today!

2. If you can't get through via e-mail, use the phone.

5. I tried e-mail and phone and could only reach 1
of 4 and by phone and then had to leave a message! One said their mailbox was full and another said the lines were busy! I sent e-mails this morning.

3. I tried all last night and again
this morning. If I do get through, I get an answering machine and when I try to leave a message, I'm told the voice mailbox is full. I'm trying to call Rubio and Cliff Stearns from Florida, both repukes. I have a cottage in Maine so I'm going to call Snowe and Collins using that zip code. I hope all the phones are inundated with angry voters. The repukes all know what the American people want, but just ignore us.

6. Crashing the servers and filling the voice mail is even more effective
than actually getting through, IMO.

25. Maybe a fax will work.
Stearns, Cliff , Florida, 6th fax 202/225-3973

Collins, Susan ph 202/224-2523 fax 202/224-2693
Snowe, Olympia ph 202/224-5344 fax 202/224-1946

Don't have Rubio's numbers, though.

If your fax doesn't go through during the day, try late evening.

31. Thank you for this information.
I will compose and fax my thoughts to them this evening. I did call Stearns' office in Ocala and spoke with someone.

11. We should be in touch with the good guys so they have a stack of
messages to point to showing they have support.

8. Don't forget their local 'home district' offices.
Call DC, but also call their offices in their own States and districts.

13. I have been calling the local offices
instead of the D.C. offices with no problem. I'm getting through there.

I still can't get through to Shelby or Sessions. The CAPTCHA text that I must enter is missing.

10. I called my Senators and Congressman
Lautenberg's office allowed automatic messages - so I took that option. In his case, I mentioned Obama's request that we call and then asked that he continue supporting the things that have always been important to him - like Medicare and SS and to continue fighting the right wing nonsense.

Menedez's office had a person answering - so I said about the same thing I left in the Lautenberg message. Adding that although I knew he was on our side, I figured that it was good to have calls from us as well.

Then I call my Republican Congressman. Frelinghuysen has been a very frustrating Congressman as he used to be very moderate - especially on the environment. His district includes a lot of old money Republicans -so in his case, taxing the top 1% IS taxing part of his base. I spoke of the RW not compromising and trying to starve the government from doing needed things. I asked if he was working with other moderates in both parties.

(Neither the Menendez or Frelinghuysen representative volunteered anything.

18. Keep up the good work!
As of 11:15 EDT:

"The Capitol switchboard was on the verge of being overloaded with calls from across the country Tuesday morning after President Obama called on Americans in an address to the nation Monday evening to contact their members of Congress about the high-stakes debt battle playing out in Washington.

“Due to the high volume of external calls, House telephone circuits serving 202-225-XXXX phone numbers are near capacity resulting in outside callers occasionally getting busy signals,” read an e-mail sent from the House Chief Administrative Officer’s Technology Call Center to members’ offices Tuesday morning. “Outbound calls are unaffected.”

The message suggests that members’ offices “may wish to provide district office staff and key contacts with an alternate 202-226-XXXX extension, if available, until call volumes subside.”

22. I've spoken with my Congressman several times.
I already know where he is and I agree with him 100%. In MA the only chink in or delegation is the cover-senator, and I have never been able to get through to either his DC office or his local office.
