1. It's always something with Cenk.
He'll never be satisfied with anything.

15. Cenk is a one horse pony, Al Sharpton shows how Obama hit the mark in today's speech
Cenk can only criticize and look at things superficially. Nice that they have a young guy to reach that demographic but he's biased against Obama thinking that is what it means to be a progressive...

2. It's not recent criticism
It's criticism that's been around for some time, even going back to the 2008 primary against Hillary.

3. that's been the criticism all along
if it's about Obama's negotiating style, which Cenk often talks about.

6. I loathe that concept
The idea that one has to be an asshole to succeed. Too many people believe it and make life harder for the rest of us than it has to be.

20. Hence why they seem to like people like Christie, Giuliani, Reagan. It's the authoritative
personality. People want to be told what to do and think. They want to be led.

And the LOUDER they speak, the more respect they get. In the world of poliTRICKS, one can be LOUD and WRONG and people will flock to his/her feet. Being loud, wrong, angry, defiant is commonly mistaken for being "strong" and "resolute."

I mean, people were supporting Bush/Cheney no matter how wrong they were. They were standing up for their convictions; didn't matter that they were responsible for millions of deaths and an economy that will take decades to fix due to their corruption, unlawfulness, and pure evil tactics. They were LOUD and WRONG!! And authoritative!

31. Yep. It gets the followers out of responsibility
If Bush and Cheney sound so authoritative they must know what they are doing and can be relied on - follower never has to think about details.

8. Cenk filled in for Chris tonight? I saw Chris's show tonight at 5pm and he seemed to LOVE Obama's
press conference. He started the show saying, "Give 'em HELL, Barry!" And he ended with his "Let Me Finish" segment complimenting him some more. A lot of the show was used discussing the press conference and saying it was Truman-esque. And I saw part of the 7pm show which was a repeat of his 5pm show.

9. Yes, I think he did. Maybe a 'live' segment to discuss/bash
the press conference and Obama. Then he went into this spiel about how 'progressive' he (Cenk) is, as if he was apologizing. I thought it was all odd; I missed all news today until Tweety's first show (Barry, Harry). I think the hardball logo was behind Cenk; hopefully someone will concur, or maybe I'm nuts? :D

11. That's so weird. I KNOW Cenk was on Ratigan's show giving the "Daily Rant" or whatever it's called,
Edited on Wed Jun-29-11 08:52 PM by jenmito
and he was saying the things you described. I don't watch Dylan's show, but I put MSNBC on just so I would catch Hardball from the beginning. Could you have confused it with that? Or with Cenk's own show which comes right AFTER Hardball at 5pm?

one who saw it, I'm willing to be talked out of my delusion. ;)

16. Cenk insisted that Obama was once again weak on his own show, contrary to Rachel, Tweety, LO, AL
So what is he the token republican disguised as a progressive? He can't seem to roll with the news of the day very well.

10. Cool is accurate, in the best sense of the term
Cool like the cool described by Robert Ferris Thompson.

Nice is NOT cool. Obama is cool.

14. Yeah, first he's arrogant, now he's nice. He was "too professorial,"
now he's not serious enough.

Cenk has never liked Obama. He was a PUMA and never got over the primaries. He and Jane Hamsher are annoying.

You can be nice and show a hellofalot of spine at the same time. THAT'S what I want from a President.

22. Meanwhile, other commentators are saying Obama was "taking too tough a tone" and calling him
negative things that got ONE person taken off of MSNBC. So he's both "too nice" and "too combative" at the same time.

25. Who are "the correct people"?
Edited on Thu Jun-30-11 07:55 PM by ClarkUSA
He's nice to "people" who are nice to him.

He's cordial and listens to "people" who disagree with him but respect his POV, too, and try to reach an understanding.

He's not going to be nice to "people" who attack almost anything he says or does 24/7 with a pronounced lack of respect.

We endured eight years of Bush/Cheney. We want some Democratic results. Too much to ask?

29. Spare me, again. Lots of people put him in office, not just
progressives. So he should ignore all those other people to do the progressives' bidding? In an ideal world, I bet he would love to, but that's not the narrow constituency he only has to consider.
