All In The Family: Guess Who Comcast's Newest Lobbyist Is Related To!
http://crooksandliars.com/susie-madrak/all-family-guess-who-comcasts-newest-

By Susie Madrak

So she's married to the son of the man known as the Carlyle Group's ultimate fixer, James A. Baker 3d. Well, that makes it all perfectly clear!

The new senior vice president of government affairs for Comcast Corp. in Washington, Meredith Attwell Baker, faces a host of lobbying limits because of her position on the Federal Communications Commission when the agency approved the cable company's $30 billion merger with NBC Universal Inc. in January.

She cannot lobby the FCC or any executive agency until the end of the Obama administration - which, if President Obama wins a second term, will be six years - and she is permanently barred from lobbying the FCC on issues related to the NBCUniversal transaction, which she voted to approve in the 4-1 vote.

Baker said Friday that she was surprised that Comcast still wanted to hire her after learning of these restrictions because she would be "completely useless" dealing with the FCC.

"I want people to understand that I haven't done anything wrong," Baker said. "I have done everything to comply with the rules."

12. Comcast suppressed anti-war voices before we attacked Iran
This ad (links below), featuring 70 ordinary citizens from central New Jersey, aired in January 2003 a few weeks before the U.S. invasion of Iraq. Comcast, Corp. refused to air it when originally scheduled (on CNN in Washington on the night of Bush's 2003 State of the Union address) on the grounds that it contained "unsubstantiated claims." Bush's speech that night referred to alleged Iraqi attempts to obtain uranium from Africa, along with many other statements about Iraq's WMDs.

6. Did Obama know the Baker Tie In when he appointed her?
What I wonder is that who is to "monitor her" to see that she abides by the rules of the time she's not supposed to be "lobbying" for Comcast.

Anyone, really believe Comcast hired her when they thought she couldn't do anything for them? Anyone REALLY believe that? LOL's!

10. I didn't know she'd got past "vetting" so that she was appointed..
There was some big backlash against her because of her connections, Father Jim Clyburn's Connections and SC Media was all over it.

But, it was so much "push back" that I thought her nomination didn't get through. So..this is a surprise.

have been appointed. I had thought better of Jim Clyburn than this. But, then...it's South Carolina which is like the "Las Vegas" of the Southern East Coast." :-( NEPOTISM is #1. But, then...it's spread so far across the American States...why should I trash SC for being the FIRST in a Growing Trend.

13. "I want people to understand that I haven't done anything wrong. I have done
everything to comply with the rules." The rules, that is the problem, along with corporate personhood. Until we change that expect more of the same.
