A post from a wingnut on FB.......as to why insurance premiums keep going up.....

I can't make sense of it, and ask DUers if any of her rants are actually accurate (do ins. companies actually pay for massages at a spa? maybe for medical reasons?)

I'd rather maintain a choice as to what I spend the fruits of my labor on via the private sector than truly be a sheep and blindly hand over my money to the government based upon promises that - clearly - can and will be broken! Talk about removing choice! Further, onlly a mindless follower would fight for a health care plan that the government a) will turn into a one-size-fits-all plan, where we all have the same thing, no matter our individual needs, b) will continue to raise taxes to confiscutory levels in order to pay for the removal of our individuality and c) will ultimately run it straight into the ground because the government hasn't run ONE SINGLE entitlement program successfully. Let me say that again: NOT ONE SINGLE GOVERNMENT ENTITLEMENT PROGRAM HAS BEEN RUN SUCCESSFULLY.

Yeah. I'll take my chances with private corporations, ANY DAY! At least, at the end of the day, I can vote with my feet and take my business elsewhere if I am unsatisfied with the goods or services of offered by a company. What we need are MORE CORPORATIONS that must compete with one another for our business. Evidence of how good, healthy competition between businesses serves the people well can be seen everywhere. For example, Wal-Mart used to be the only game in town in an area close to where I live. Well, that Wal-Mart was a complete toilet: understaffed, understocked, filthy, disorganized. Then - Target moved in just across the street. Guess what? The Wal-Mart cleaned up its act, completely!

There are countless examples of how competition between private companies has served us and served us well. However, there isn't one single government entitlement program - hell, there isn't even one government bureaucracy that has served us well in terms of saving us money (in fact, MOST ARE BANKRUPT) and providing us unmatched service. Period....

4. Yes, we are currently able to choose a plan that fits our individual needs
and we can vote with our feet if we're not satisfied with our insurance company.

Oh wait... no we aren't and no we can't.

11. Right, and good luck getting any coverage if you have a pre-existing condition
This kind of argument usually comes from those who have not really had any serious health issues.

8. Sorry. She is an idiot. All she wants is the best money can buy, for herself
and the VA is very successful. And using Walmart as an example of anything is ludicrious.

12. Funny...
Target opened up about a mile from my local Walmart several years ago. The Walmart is still a shithole. I guess Target has to be right across the street for them to "clean up their act." Idiot, indeed. I'm surprised she didn't start spouting the old "the uninsured are in a mess because they made bad decisions or are lazy" canard.

Medicare? Medicare any one? Wanna try to pry it out their cold dead fingers? Go ahead. Try it. "Keep the government out of my Medicare!!!"

Morons.

13. OMG, she thinks of competition as Wal-Mart and Target...

It's obvious the right-wingers really don't even consider the little guy on Main Street.

Big box competition. wow.

15. Looking for ONE undisputed successful single entitlement program? Look at the history of decades of
corporate welfare in almost every industry (of course, no one is ever allowed to call it "entitlements" or "welfare"), and see how those corporations have thrived...
