"One of the great problems (Republicans) have .. is that we don't encourage you to be nasty." - Newt
"I think one of the great problems we have in the Republican party is that we don't encourage you to be nasty. We encourage you to be neat, obedient, and loyal and faithful and all those Boy Scout words..."

-- Newt Gingrich, in a 1978 address to College Republicans.

1. Bwahahahaha
I don't think he knows the meaning of "faithful" - and as for the nasty part, did he not joke about others' appearances?

2. They don't have to 'encourage' nasty, they just ARE, in the DNA.

3. It could be that wasn't out of line for him in 1978. If not, it didn't take
him long to not only correct that problem, but turn it around completely.

It's all nasty now. I frequently notice how right-wingers act now when you try and debate them. The reaction is anger, and they get loud and try and talk over anyone that wants to reason with them. I don't waste my time. Those people have been trained to be unreachable half-wits.

7. "neat, obedient, and loyal and faithful "
Just say it like this:

"Ich schwöre dem Reich meine Treue......."

"And if you don't, well we do support the death penalty!"

When the Democrats are in power, Republicans say they are the loyal opposition.
When Republicans are in power, all opposition is treasonous.
