All the Repubs want is for Obama to not get any good legislation through the congress. That is all
they stand for and all they want: the perpetual campaign to make sure Obama or the Dems. never connect with the general public (let alone their own base).

I would not count on Lieberman for anything. He is one of the neocons.

1. True. Now, once the White House actually starts proposing *good* legislation...
...then we can get some supporters fired up!

5. Exactly! RW host Mark Levine was bashing Lieberman the other day for considering voting for even
the most watered-down version yet. They don't want ANYTHING to pass. We should get what we can, which will be a defeat for the RW but a disappointment for us, and then push through Medicare expansion and/or the public option via reconciliation.

7. I'd love to see him propose something good.
Employee Free Choice Act??

How about a bill banning permanent replacement workers?

Legalize marijuana?

Protect internet speech from retribution by employers??

12. Well true. And every new regulation impinges on their freedom
Their freedom to make contracts with insurance companies is at stake. Because you know they negotiate with them and get the best prices. :sarcasm:

14. True.
And as they are obviously not acting in good faith, I don't see why our side should either.

If Harry Reid had any balls at all, he'd be using reconciliation for EVERYTHING. Then the Republicans would quickly become irrelevant.

17. And their campaign is working.
I really thought the Pukes would splinter after losing the election, but it seems to have united them in their quest to obstruct. Instead, it's the Democratic party that is splintering, because Obama can't make all their dreams come true.

20. Yup. And the glue that keeps them together is "no raising taxes". When
the whole USA is in the crisis position California is in right now will they change their toon? Cause that is where the USA is headed.

25. No, Harold Washington was the first black mayor of Chicago
The strategy of his opponents was to make sure absolutely NOTHING could be done, period, even if they otherwise would have supported the initiative. This seems to be the strategy of the Republicans for Obama.
