Congratulations Scott Walker: You've won a footnote in history as one of the biggest assholes
Daily Kos: Wisconsin: Walker statement on successful union busting

Governor Scott Walker has issued a statement on tonight's successful stripping of collective bargaining rights for public employees by his Republican Senate:

In order to move the state forward, I applaud the legislature's action today to stand up to the status quo and take a step in the right direction to balance the budget and reform government.

Really, Gov. Walker? If this new bill removed all fiscal elements so it could be crammed through, how can it be a move to balance the budget?

Meanwhile, thousands of protesters have stormed the Capitol:

Thousands of protesters rushed to the state Capitol Wednesday night as word spread of the hastily called votes that sent Gov. Scott Walker's controversial bill limiting collective bargaining rights for public workers speeding through the Legislature.

Shortly after 8, hundreds of protesters chanted outside the locked King Street entrance to the Capitol, "Break down the door!" and "General strike!"

Moments later, police ceded control of the State Street doors and allowed the crowd to surge inside.

It's not clear why police abandoned the doors, but Department of Administration spokesman Tim Donovan said "windows have been broken" to get in. He said he could not immediately provide specifics.

Update: It appears despite the Republican assertions to the contrary, the collective bargaining bill contains elements that would be deemed fiscal. This memo looks as if it would bolster a Constitutional challenge.

they could get the actual bill passed. Hopefully the courts will agree with the illegality of it since they were able to find something deemed fiscal. Tomorrow should be good or however soon they can get before a judge.

6. The RNC is very much involved.
Remember that the former Wisconsin State Republican Party chair is now the RNC chair.

7. I am willing to bet Walker will be recalled as soon as feasible under WI law...
Politically, he's toast, even he ran out his term, he'd be hamstrung by this for that term. I honestly can't see him finishing out 4 years though...he'll be gone in January.

I also believe those that can be recalled in the Senate will suffer greatly for this...it's just a case of getting the #'s necessary to get the process rolling. By most accounts, there are plenty of signatures already. The good people of WI are going to toss half, if not all 8 of these bums.

9. Yet people like David Frum were STILL trying to pump up his chances
as a possible front-runner for the 2012 Preidential nomination on the basis of his great "victory" in Wisconsin!
