Edited on Fri Feb-25-11 02:03 AM by FrenchieCat
Don't know what he is waiting for?

Cause he needs to get off his lazy ass and do "somethin'" !!

A perdy speech would be great. :)
But him and his security detail walking the picket line joining the protestors would be even
better! :bounce:
Just think of the photo-Opportunities symbolic visual! :wow:

I mean...come on! Why would President get off your ass! Obama want to pass this up?
He could be in all of the newspapers and shit, and he could make it be all about him!

Let's replace this headline....

with this one....

Obama flies in to Wisconsin and demands anti-union Bill be squashed! Walker says Hell No! the standoff continues...

let's replace this stat.....

According to a USA Today/Gallup Poll, 61 percent of respondents "would oppose a law in their state similar to one being considered in Wisconsin," with 33 percent in favor of such a law.

Mr. Schultz is a political genius whose has changed many many
things in the lives of Americans! The President should listen to him!
I mean the guy is on radio AND on television!

Ed quote: "And I'm announcing today, I'm not going to vote in the midterms.
I'm not going to do it. You can say it's un-American.
No, it's rather revolutionary is what it is.
I'm at that point. I'm checking out."

http://radioequalizer.blogspot.com/2010/08/msnbc-libtalker-announces-election.html

ED SCHULTZ FOR PRESIDENT!

:patriot:

Pres. Obama, please....we need you to walk like an Egyptian!

I think it can work, and if it backfires, well so what?
Who really cares about all of that? It's just an issue that defines
the middle and working class. I say he goes for it, and crosses his fingers
on how it will all end up. He's gonna get the blame anyways, unless it ends
up good, then it won't have anything to do with him anyways.....

But at the very least he'd look strong, loud and.....strong :applause:

and after all, results isn't what we really need....nope!
We need to bring this to a head and pop it! We need the President! The ol' regular American
Union folks protesting just ain't enough! We need the one guy that can energize the Right!
See, now you understand, right! Now we are talking! AlRite?

Those silly far lefts obviously dont know how to parse out words like us clear-eyed centrists do!

The teachers actaully did "strike" earlier, but that was before we came up with this excuse, so it's not fair to bring that in.

37. A "strike"? Like when the teachers did not show up to work earlier in the week?
Did he say there had to be actual picket lines b/f he would show up? I just want to make sure our pin-point semantic parsing is accurate.

So far the teachers have been calling in sick and have not called for a full out 'strike'.

31. Hmmm, guess we expect our President to quickly speak out
about what protesting citizens in other Countries say, but not get too involved in his own Country's citizens uprisings? And in America, attention spans are short; it you ignore problems long enough, they'll probably either go away or something else will happen to be the breaking news of the day. Yep, staying on the sidelines - except when you have to meet with business leaders, bankers and investors - that's the best strategy.

Barack Obama, then campaigning as an underdog to Hillary Clinton and in desperate need of union support, told a crowd that he would join picket lines as President to keep workers from being denied collective bargaining rights."

Besides rally against social security, encourage Duncan to destroy the public schools, extend tax breaks for the very wealthy, and sign extensions to the Patriot Act?

After all I've watched the past 2 years I'd prefer he sit in the oval office with his mouth shut. And above all I don't want him or the party co-opting the workers movement.

Once again he has his finger in the wind waiting to see which way the wind blows.

All he would have to do is show up in Madison and say "I stand behind your right to bargain collectively 100%".

His silence is deafening.

52. Won't happen...
Latest talking point from the pubbies is that Obama has hundreds of thousands of federal employees working for him and they do not have Collective Bargaining rights and that law that denies them these rights was signed by Jimmy Carter. So how can Obama go to Wisconsin and argue on behalf of State civil service employees getting something that their federal counterparts cannot get?

Its a real shame we never got REAL CHANGE.///

unless of course you were hoping to convince them of anything. :eyes:

64. Speaking FROM Wisconsin, there's 1 more thing to consider
Edited on Sat Feb-26-11 01:19 PM by mojowork_n
There's another element that might possibly come in to play.

If our State Senators continue working away from the office for
any length of time -- or, in little more than a month -- the
upcoming April election will loom larger and larger in importance.

On Tuesday, April 5th, the two candidates in the (allegedly)
non-partisan Supreme Court Justice race will be going head-to-head
for voter approval.

If the last two elections to that august body are any indication,
this is going to be the Mother of All Non-Partisan Elections.
A "Nothing to See Here, Move Along (Let the public corruption
continue)" Republican is running against a nice lady litigator
and prosecutor from the Dept. of Justice in Madison.

At the moment, the Wisconsin Supreme Court is tilted 4 to 3,
with conservative, Republican-types holding the majority. So
if the incumbent Republican loses, it will be big news. It
might even lead to a further re-shuffling of the Court, since
the most recently elected Republican, a particularly porcine
and truculent fellow, got in trouble for lying about his
opponent in most of his TV ads, in HIS election. The Court
(predictably) split 3 against 3 when they voted on a reprimand....

...But if the protests continue -- if the State Senators continue
to hold out, and it stays "immovable protesters vs. implacable
Republicans," a resolution through the Third Branch of government,
the Top Court, could be one way out. And the April election would
be the tipping point.

So maybe there's lots of time, yet.

79. Unrec'd. Obama needs to stay away from our state
Obama coming here would simply give Walker and the Koch much more ammo for their attack ads currently running on TV here. Already they're saying "Obama is bussing in union thugs from around the country", just imagine if Obama actually came to WI and started meddling with the crisis still ongoing in Libya.

We're trying to recall state senators in 8 close Republican district and the last thing we need to do is give the GOP another divisive angle to use.

80. I think it would backfire if Obama went to WI!
The Republicans would have a field day with him messing with state politics...And I think that 61% approval rating for the workers to keep their collective bargaining would drop if Obama goes to WI.

It would be spun by the GOP & the MSM following FOX "News" lead that the POTUS is trying to mess with state politics.
