New Iowa Republican Governor Terry Branstadt double dipping from the state with his pay!

Former, and now current Iowa governor Terry Branstadt is basically getting paid for both his past term in office by still collecting a pension for such and his salary for presently serving as the governor there now.

Some Outraged Over Governor's Pay

IOWA CITY, Iowa -- Iowa Gov. Terry Branstad has continued collecting state pension payments as well as his $130,000 annual salary since being sworn in for a fifth term last month.

Sacrifice was the central theme of Branstad's state of the state address.

"Our new covenant between this state and its people does indeed require significant immediate sacrifice," said Branstad.

"I'm not sure who's making the sacrifice, but I can see Gov. Branstad holds himself out of the sacrifice and new covenant deal," said Iowa Democratic Party Chair Sue Dvorsky.

3. Branstad's spokesperson is a piece of work too.
Albrecht also points out that the governor made a big sacrifice by giving up his $357,000 job at Des Moines University to run for office.


I thought a person received a pension when they retired. Not while they are still working at the same company.
