Sanders Statement on State of the Union
Sanders Statement on State of the Union

WASHINGTON, Jan. 25 - Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) issued the following statement tonight after President Barack Obama delivered his State of the Union address to a joint session of Congress:

"The president covered a lot of territory but the issues that stand out for me are the need for our nation to rebuild our crumbling infrastructure and create millions of new jobs, reduce our deficit in a fair and responsible way, and for us to make sure that Social Security remains strong not only for the present generation but for our kids and grandchildren."

2. Yeah Bernie!
I felt the speech was tepid, but maybe that is what is needed.

6. That pretty much sums up the main points. Guess that's why he's in Congress.
My summary would've been all over the place and used a lot more words, w/o saying much more.

8. Hardly a ringing endorsement of the speech.
It's a carefully worded statement that will function as a kind of Rohrschach test for almost anyone who reads it.

11. Bernie is the best. The rare politician who cares about ordinary people. A
much needed voice in the Senate.

13. Those are the issues that stand out to me as well.
If you wish to take that construction as an ovation, I'd call it "optimistic" thinking.

Others might call it a reach.

In any event, Sander's thoughts have weight but are not decisive in mine.
