I mean are we Democrats or Moderates?

67 Percent Of Tea Partiers Would Rather Raise Taxes Than Raise The Social Security Retirement Age
http://thinkprogress.org/2011/01/24/tea-partiers-social-security/

A poll just came out that shows tea baggers would rather raise taxes than cut SS. Which means this is could be a winning issue for Democrats if they would just buy into it.

I would guarantee that 75%+ of all Americans would support raising the taxes on all payrolls if it meant lowering the retirement age to 62 and keeping SS funded forever.

Instead, all we get is silence and concern about cutting it. What gives?

4. Dude...Obama has never talked about taking it off the table nor does anyone know his intentions.
Majority of the left lost their minds and thinks he's talking about cutting SS. When the news came out from Obama that no one is touching SS everyone shuts up. I think if Obama says...we have to make tough choices about SS. Which may mean revamping it. The same people on the left and DU will start screaming he created the Whiskers commission to take away SS, he's talking about cutting SS---blah blah blah. AGain, we'll see the same hoopla and then if all he wanted to do was revamp SS it gets lost in the noise.

11. Dude, I don't think you got my post at all.
I'm not being critical of Obama. I'm being critical of ALL Democrats for being happy enough with not making cuts.

Did you actually read the OP?

3. Maybe this will provide some comfort:
Watch Bernie Sanders on the Lawrence O'Donnell show: video

Sanders said that he's going to force a vote on Paul Ryan's plan.

He said it's time for the debate to happen to put an end to the nonsense.

Are you talking about the President?

Then no. He doesn't have a vote and cannot control House Republicans. They repealed the health care law.

Also, if everything the President says is held suspect by some (we'll see, actions not pretty words), how can one person stop it?

Have you ever heard anyone say: "I do not trust him"?

10. Does this president have a veto pen?
Can he threaten to use it? Can he use it?

Will that make him more trustworthy to those who don't trust him?

Will anyone mention that he also threatened to veto a health care bill without the public option?

Do you really believe that a veto threat will end the rumors?

You're right. It is fucking sad, and depressing as hell, that DEMOCRATS chastise other DEMOCRATS for worrying about cuts to the status quo.

You are absolutely right. We should be demanding improvements to SS benefits, together.
