Rep. Paul Ryan, Budget Committee chief, to give GOP's State of the Union response

The Wisconsin lawmaker is chosen as a signal to the party's commitment to deficit reduction, GOP officials say. Another Republican, Rep. Michele Bachmann of Minnesota, will also deliver a rebuttal, on behalf of the Tea Party Express.

Reporting from Washington —

Wisconsin Rep. Paul D. Ryan will deliver the Republican Party's response to President Obama's State of the Union address next week, GOP officials said Friday.

The choice of Ryan, chairman of the House Budget Committee, is intended to signal the party's commitment to deficit reduction, party officials said. Ryan will deliver the GOP response Tuesday from the Budget Committee's hearing room.

"Paul Ryan is uniquely qualified to address the state of our economy and the fiscal challenges that face our country," House Speaker John A. Boehner (R-Ohio) said in a statement. "We're broke, and decisive action is needed to help our economy get back to creating jobs and end the spending binge in Washington that threatens our children's future. I'm pleased that Paul will be outlining a common-sense vision for moving our country forward."

1. Oh, yeah. Common sense dictates that the old and the feeble
sucking on the teets of 'entitlements' must be destroyed. That way, we can take that money and put it in wall street where it belongs, and keep sending money to the wars so's they can play football with bricks of money and watch it disafuckingpear.

I can't wait for some man-up common sense.

Where are the jobs, Boner?

:sarcasm:

2. Obama will say 'we need to consider the problem of entitlements'
And Ryan will amplify: 'we need to slash them to save them'.

Picking on retirees, great stuff.

3. The more Ryan talks the dumber he sounds ....
I'm not quite sure why he's considered "smart" ... I guess its because he repeats some of the specifics he offers (and in fairness at least he has the balls to offer some - as bad as they are) with some authority.
