The Republican leadership knew that a successful Obama presidency would sentence them to wander in the political wilderness for at least a generation. They need the ridiculous charges from the Becks, Limbaughs, Palins and Tea Baggers to provide them the cover they need to work tirelessly against the interests of the bulk of the American people. But for the ludicrous on their face charges of socialism, despotism and non-American charges, the cravenness of their legislative nihilism would be impossible to refute.
The events in Arizona today are the absolutely predictable result of the RW inflaming the populace with lies and fears as the GOP has winked and nudged them onward.
