that DADT was repealed.

Congrats first and foremost to our GLBT service members and veterans, secondly to the larger GLBT community, to the US military and its citizens for making a great institution even better, and to House & Senate Democrats as well as President Obama!

Now lets do what we can to refocus on fair and human immigration reform, repealing the Bush tax cuts in 2012 and improving health care reform!

1. OVERWHELMING bulk of the work was done by DADT advocates....
... but Obama helped .... and helped in a way that will be next to IMPOSSIBLE to undo. ;)

2. Don't applaud yet.
Obama, Gates, and the CJCS all have to certify that the "transition" period has ended before the policy finally dies.

This was a well crafted bill, giving the President an excuse to never end the policy since something along the lines of "the continued military activity in Iraq/Afghanistan/Yemen/Cozumel/Miami Beach precludes any major changes in military policy until their successful conclusion. Therefore...."
