2. LOL at this comment: Every time I see him performing he reminds me of a bad acting rendition of ...
...James Gandolfini in The Sopranos. What an egomaniac.

Ironic, isn't it?

30. Obama could learn a few lessons from Christie
On pleasing his base and standing up to the other party.

8. I considered going to this - as it was about 10 minutes from my home, but am glad I didn't
The way he treated a Livingston Republican is outrageous.

The two adversaries went back and forth for a few minutes, until Chaudruc, a Republican, interrupted the governor.

"You want to come up here?" Christie shouted. "You come up here ... Let’s have a conversation..

Chaudruc, who stands 5’6" and weighs about 160 pounds, backed away until the governor insisted "bring him up here," and a state trooper escorted him to the stage.

Christie, a few inches taller and several pounds heavier, loomed over Chaudruc as he launched into a tirade.

For non - New Jersyean, Livingston is a pretty affluent town and there are many moderate Republicans. Others that questioned the Governor included a school board official from Chatham, a very affluent town. Both he and some one from Parsippany (in various Daily Record articles have pointed out that the superintendents that they are giving these high salaries to have done excellent jobs that saved the towns more money than their salaries - and improved services.)

My point is that he may well lose the moderate Republicans, who did not vote for him to attack them. I know that my town, that went for Christie, was one that passed a budget over his cap. At a community social event a week before the event, many of those complaining the loudest were people who had had Republican signs during the election. (The school board did a great job listing precisely what they would cut - and designed it to maximize the number of people that would be angry - ie forcing sports to be self sustaining and cutting courtesy busing to people living close to the school.)

What it showed was that affluent people in NJ want the high level of service the state has had.

16. Yea it's amazing that they mentally cannot link
less taxes with the decline of services.

It's going to get worse across the country and they can pat themselves on the back for their choices.

25. If only NJ could print money like the Feds
they could have all the services they want. I do not know first hand
about NJ's tax rates but I have to believe they are on the high side?

34. Yes they are high
BUT

NJ income is also high - so the cost of living in NJ is high. That means that teachers' salaries, Police salaries and firemen salaries here must be high as well - so they can live here. The point is that we CAN have all the services needed - we just need to pay the taxes. The example I gave was exactly that case. We passed the school budget - keeping a wealth of AP classes, music and art classes, sports, and things like courtesy busing. The point was the Republicans in town (they are the majority - having 7 of our 7 town council positions, voted with us to pass the budget.

People chose services over lower taxes - even with the Governor leaning on towns to defeat them.

Christie is a rightwing conservative in a deep blue state and manages to maintain 50%+ approval ratings.

18. Theres a man I would like to meet
He seems to like yelling at smaller people. Does he do it with people his own size?

On reading the article... It sounds like the teacher had no desire to go up on stage, but was forced there by the police? Did he go up willingly, or did they just shove him up to be yelled at, then shove him off when the pudgy man was done hollering?

36. Not to mention - this was a REPUBLICAN from one of the most
affluent areas in the state! You can't treat people like this for long without it bacfiring.

In only previous elected position was as one of four freeholders in this affluent county (Morris). By the end of the term, the other three recruited a fourth to run as a slate - and he was gone.
