Obama's 47% approval is freaking amazing.
He's taking so much beating from all over, it's 9.6% unemployment, and still he is at 47%???!!!! Amazing.

1. He's the most popular man in DC....
.... except when Jon Stewart is there (except that's not true either.)

And just wait until the plane lands in Jakarta. ;)

2. Yes. Obama's interview on 60 minutes was all doom and gloom and I resented that
because Obama has done a lot and he didn't sell that before the elections. I hope he starts selling his legislation soon. Cause he is a good politician.

6. That both Gallup & Rasmussen have him at 47% while the media plays funeral dirges to him and writes
his obit is kind of, as you say, "freaking amazing". Discussions of his "plummeting" approval ratings which have actually stayed almost the exact same for the past year is pretty much par for the course with the current state of the media.

8. It seems like people are finally beginning to understand that Obama is not to blame for the economy.
Under Obama, we went from losing 800,000 jobs a month to having a gain of over 150,000 payrolls this October. That alone wins him my approval.

26. No, it is not.
But it's definitely a start. We just need strong payroll growth for the next year or so, and if this happens, Obama will be all set for the election.

24. I thought it was 85%
which is the number I saw folks hammering those who dared to express disloyalty, by disagreeing with him on any point.

As in, WTF is the matter with you, 85% of liberals support our President. If you aren't part of that 85% you are a whiner and a hater!

27. DU is not the real world. On DU, huge numbers of people
seem to think Alan Grayson or Dennis Kucinich would win in a landslide in a general election. If only all Democrats were just like them, we'd win every election. In the real world, Kucinich gets in the low single digits when he runs for president -- in the primaries, with only Democrats voting -- and has yet to win a single state in two primary seasons.

That's the point. Liberals aren't dissatisfied nor do they think Obama is doing a bad job. Only a small minority do. Not that those in that small minority don't have valid points to make, and not that they're wrong on everything, just that they don't get to speak for all liberals.

They are blaming him instead of the Republicans where the blame should squarely lie.

17. The media--loves to talk about his plummeting ratings but he has been remarkably stable
for a year and the chances are his approval will only go higher as the economy grows and jobs begin to be created that are noticable. Hopefully the October job numbers were just the beginning of a trend.

18. Today some here on DU
Woke up and gave this fact the finger. Oh look I see some of them have graced us already. Got nothing better to do I see. Fact is that he is popular and that DU is not a representation of the country. And for that I am grateful. K/R

19. Clearly DU is not respresentative of the country
because 99% of the people here wanted the Dems to maintain control the house, and to gain seats in the senate.

But that is not how it played out because of failures in Demleadership both in the White House and in Congress.

Obama's personal approval rating is critical to a number of folks here, but it didn't really do a friggin' thing to save Pelosi's job,and that is why a lot of us are not so greatly excited about Obama's popularity.
