Redistricting Could Give GOP Ten More Seats

The Hotline reports that House Republicans could gain at least 10 seats in 2012 just because Republican gains in state legislatures and governorships have given the party significantly more sway in the redistricting process that will follow the 2010 census.

"In the states projected to gain or lose seats after the census this year, the GOP now holds the redistricting 'trifecta' -- meaning the governorship and both chambers of the state legislature -- in the vast majority of them... This is critically important because these are the states where districts will be most drastically redrawn and, in the states that stand to gain a seat, it virtually guarantees that new district will be drawn with a future Republican member in mind."

1. No doubt about it, will be tough to win back the House in '12
but if the economy does a lot better and Dems take some of the seats that the GOP lost narrowly in a higher turnout election--it's not inconceivable. I think we could expand in the Senate, however.

2. I think with a Corporate Media working for the GOP, along with unlimited corporate money
no Net Neutrality bill passing the house, and now this.....

It's amazing that folks don't realize what is coming down the pike,
and insist that what is important is their right to criticize this President
to their heart's content instead!

Then they'll scratch their asses and wonder why their issues will be totally DOA for
another 30 years if not longer.

Everyone knows that the GOP promised years ago that their goal ultimately was one permanent
majority Republican Rule. And looks like they are on their way...while we bicker and fight
and rec and unrec this President's picture.

3. seriously ...
it is truly mindboggling that dems put knives to other dems, including the POTUS, the ultimate chess piece, while the Rs would gut their own children to get an edge ...

9. Frenchie, your defeatism is becoming a bit over the top

No one is more of a realist than I and I still firmly believe that President Obama will be re-elected easily in 2012 with at least one chamber of congress. There are no indications to suggest otherwise. By then, economic growth, Iraq withdrawal and Afghan withdrawal wil be in full swing.

You seem to be assuming that just because President Obama had one bad midterm, that all is lost. Remember Reagan? Remember Clinton?

Now, I know how strongly you support him but when you post defeatist shit like this, it is in a very real sense, not supporting him.

There is a difference between EXPOSING the lies of the MSM and saying that those lies will take our party down.

Proclaiming one party GOP rule to be basically inevitable is not helpful in the slightest degree.

7. The Senate will be even harder
The majority of seats up are Democrats. Republicans have less to defend.

4. that doesn't even include NC which neither loses nor gains any seats
but where the GOP can get 2 seats easily and 3 if they wish to be aggressive.

8. Dems always lose out on this sort of thing
R's are determined to kill us all, and they will not stop fighting until they are successful.
