Gibbs frees "The White House Eight"
GIBBS FREES "THE WHITE HOUSE 8"

WHITE HOUSE POOL REPORT #3, from New Delhi – WP’s Scott Wilson: “More conflict between White House pool and Indian security, this time requiring intervention by Robert Gibbs. Indian officials decided to cut agreed-upon number of WH pool allowed into spray of extended bilat from eight to five. Katie Lillie and other U.S. officials lobbied hard for the eight, but no luck until Gibbs announced loudly and persistently on steps of Hyderabad House that he would pull POTUS bilat with PM Singh unless ‘the White House 8,’ as we've come to be known, were all allowed in. At one point, Gibbs literally had his foot lodged in the closing front door, asking if the Indian security officials pushing hard to shut it were going to break his foot. More angry words ensued, and after Gibbs convinced them, through high volume and repetition, that he was serious about pulling POTUS, we all made it inside, to hold with larger Indian press contingent, for start of extended bilat.”

3. And it's important to note that...
..... I dont think "pull the President" means "stop the presser" as much as it means "go get the President to intervene." OH if that had happened!!! ... would have been awesome ... and interesting to see how long it would take for the press to start behaving badly after he helped them out.

7. That would be interesting, but in that world, "pull the President" does mean "stop the presser"
Or at least - "you can go on with the press event, but OUR President won't be in it."

6. Part of me says that he shouldn't fight for the slimy WH press people, they'll just slime the
President after the event anyway. But....
