17. Absolutely
I believe he will NOT run in 2012! Have believed this for the last couple of months. Ask me why, I cannot answer you specifically. It's not something he said or didn't say, just a feeling. After yesterday's press conference, then today's agreement with the rethugs, that he is going to let the rich have the tax cuts..I am more convinced than ever. The capitulating has already begun. More coming, so grab your anchors and plant them firmly. This is going to be a rough ride!

This is one of the most decent human beings, in the world of politics or any other world, that I have ever had the pleasure of being aware of...one of the real GOOD GUYS.. I love him as a person and have the utmost respect for him. I couldn't think of him more highly and couldn't imagine the world without him. He contributes to this 'lost' society by just being here and the pure simpleness of his purity of heart should speak to every one of us, as both an example and a model to look up to... but I am feeling, he just got in over his head this time. He's trying to please everyone and doesn't seem to recognize he's fallen in a pool of man eating sharks. Not only doesn't he see it, he doesn't WANT to see it... as he believes in the good of the 'sharks'. An incredible guy, but sitting in the wrong place right now. But, whatever he decides to do, run or not run, he is who he is and I'm glad he's a fellow traveler right now.He has given me and all of us the privilege to see that there are still decent politicians out there..who in their hearts are really 'trying'.

Won't come anywhere near "deciding" to do it, either. I'm reserving about 7% of my energy for the possibility that TPTB will try to drag him through the election cycle, but I doubt they will make the attempt.

how old are you, 12?
1st rule is never judge their intentions by the "display" they put on for others......
2nd rule is this isn't unchartered territory.......

every midterm presidency loses, (except for a 9/11 boosted Bush)....
the reason it was this big was the magnitude of economic demise..

sadly we are stuck in this paradigm since really nothing was done to fundamentally change any part of the "system".

we are probably further beholden to moneyed interests now.....

36. I'm not convinced he won't,
but I think there's a possibility of it.

He just doesn't seem to have the appetite for fighting -- either the Republicans or the corporations -- that it would take to turn things around.

If he just felt inept at it, he could leave it to Biden or some other high level staff to lob off the real zingers, and do the head-butting.

But he apparently isn't willing to do that either.

And it wouldn't be unprecedented in recent history. Lyndon Johnson took himself out of the running in 1968.

Of course, the situations weren't the same. Johnson really liked the rough-and-tumble of politics. Also, by that time he'd managed to get most of his Great Society agenda enacted. But he was bogged down in Vietnam, and didn't know how to get out.

Maybe he's simply a pragmatist. Have you ever thought of that?

48. If you're right and I hope you're not,
That would be worse. We don't need a pragmatist, we need a street fighter. I hope he realizes now that politically-pacifist zen pragmatism is capitulation.

I have no doubt he's running. I hope he finds some spine and checks the "pragmatism" first.

I see nothing at all wrong with dealing with things sensibly and realistically. He knows the reality of Washington. He plays with the hand he's been dealt. Going into street fighter mode and working outside the system won't help him or us a bit.

part. His approval's higher than in the 90's at this time, he has votes that won't leave him he'd be crazy not to run and we'd be more crazy to oppose him. Sorry Nadar on democracy now the other day minorities won't stop believing, and he'd know that if he walked in their shoes. Nadar plays divide and conquer just as much as the right only Nadar's kind leaves us in the cold of a generation. Nadar has pie in the sky plan the rich save us, no organizng and that's it and helping the improve the party we got. Nadar's aim is to destroy Dems just as much as the right, only for a far less productive outcome for our side. At least when the GOP do it we push back.
