Obama will not run again
If on a week where he got his second Supreme Court Justice and the hole in the Gulf seems to be plugged - all the media cared about is Michelle taking her daughter to a few days in Spain - then this war is lost. He will not tolerate such crap against his family and he will not stay where he's obviously really hated. He'll go home. I'm quite sure of that.

It seems people who throw the word troll around are behaving more like trolls than those they accuse.

who has repeated this memo over and over and over. That is not how we elect or re-elect Democrats.
The OP is just having a pity party because (HOW DARE WE) some here (and in real life) have criticized the president and his administration.
But, let's not forget, we don't deserve Obama (even though the majority of Americans who voted in 2008, voted FOR Obama). We did get what we voted for, didn't we?

4. Relax, impik. He will run again..and win. DU is not even close to representative of the nation

90% of Democrats will vote for him. And with the registration edge that we have, he'll only need 40% of independents.

...and he'll get those too.

The Dem party Left is firmly behind Obama, and they're the ones that vote in the primaries, not the DU posters parade.

7. For these reasons, one couldn't blame him if he didn't, but...
I don't think he's like that. He has entirely too large a committment not only to us but to the rest of the country to stay and do what he was sent there to do. And he'll have to be a lame duck in his second term in order to really get some things done. That's something lost on entirely too many people here.

10. No, he will run in '12 and most likely be re-elected...
I predict that the GOP will actually lose seats in the 2010 election and that will get doors to open and legislation passed.

PO will be running in 2012, he'll win...there might not even be a GOP after 2010... ;)

20. Well...for one thing...
I don't listen to TV pundits, it seems they have decided the results already, deep losses for D's. That's not going to happen, deep losses for the GOP is far more likely, as they have nothing to offer voters, except returning to the legacy of the bush years, who wants incredible failure?

The Whigs went to pasture, and the GOP came out of that ash heap. I honestly believe the GOP is on the cusp of becoming a party of little more than death and dust. If they don't come up w/something other than tax cuts, it's all over. They have no platform that is solid, they have 3 planks, abortion, taxes and security. They fail incredibly in all of those. Abortion, they never did a thing about it when they had power, tax cuts for the very wealthy just meant more money went to stocks, not job creation. Security is a joke, they started 2 wars, spend an exorbitant amount of money on defense systems that either don't work or are far over budget, worse still, the Army, Navy and AF say they don't need what is being foisted upon them, it's all about getting defense dollars into districts that are R heavy.

The citizens like fighters, they like people who will stand up for principles, even if they don't hold those principles. Saying "no" is not fighting, is stonewalling, and most people don't like that at all.

In the end, in Nov, I see the GOP losing seats in both House; Bachmann and Boehner might not even be re-elected, but fully admit that is a long shot, they would have to be far more superficial than they already are, but it's possible.

60. You're right about the GOP
I think that they will be a force to deal with for maybe a couple more election cycles before they finally sputter out. My concern is that the Establishment Democrats will attempt to appeal to the former regular republicans by moving the Democratic Party even further to the right than it is now. We should be moving left, not right.

I don't think that we should co-opt republican ideas and policies just to grub for conservative votes. The Democratic Party is supposed to be the one on the left. Let the right wing find their own new political party and not infect the Democratic Party with their awful conservatism.

25. Why do you insist that he is so petty and thin skinned?
You paint him as unable to contend with the sort of presss banter than comes to anyone in the public eye for any reason. So, you see him as weaker than, say, Paris or Perez Hilton, a wilting flower of a man who for some reason, up and ran for President.
In my opinion, both of the Obamas are smart enough to have known this is how it would be, before they decided to go for it. They do not seem stupider than, say, soap opera stars or the local weatherman, as you seem to think they are, stunned at the true nature of fame on a massive level, political or no. Friends with Oprah, who somehow thought being famous did not include gossip? How downright unteachable do you think these two are?
I'm sorry, but the way you see them as idiots in need of pampering, and other Democrats as unwilling to pamper the delicate ones well enough, it is all slimey and insulting to the Party, the President, and to his wife, in a way that I as a critic of many of their policies never would do. I hope you know how truly insulting to the President your words so often are. I think he is often wrong, but not stupid, naieve, nor in need of the Diva Treatment.
Your posts are the least supportive of the President that I see on all of DU, in my opinion. You seem to think he's a worm, elected by spoiled brats. I do not agree.

of their corporate owners and their interests.

If he's working just to make the MSM "like" him, then he should hang it up because he'd be in this for the completely wrong reason. But I seriously do not believe he's looking for their affirmation or approval, nor is he naive enough to think that he'd get it given their treatment of the Dems since the Clinton impeachment days.

Kind of full of yourself aren't you? Do you know the man? Do you have any real insight into his thoughts and feelings? Or are you just such a master of projection that you've decided that because, presumably, you wouldn't like to be treated the way he is, you'd walk away.

36. I think posts like this are projection - not to knock the OP, but
I've seen these things in cyberspace and have heard the same things from a couple of people in person. Knowing the people I've heard in person as I do, I think it's a matter of being worn down by the bully mentality of constant negativity and criticism, and projecting their need to make it stop on what they think/believe the President will do.

Of course, I'm pretty sure he's made of much stronger stuff than people think, or than some of them unfortunately hope. Personally, I'd be in "fuck you" mode to the MSM, the Teabaggers, and the whole "he hasn't done a damned thing" crowd. The more they bitch and moan, the more I'd be motivated to go the full 8-year distance. To borrow a quote from "G.I. Jane":

"The more they fuck with me, the more I want to gut it out."

Howard reported that Obama is running again. But I don't really think that is news to anyone.

Howard also reported that he was told that Obama said something to the effect of...
(I'm paraphrasing Howard who was retelling a story told to him)...
"I don't know who would want this job, but I'll be damned if Mitt Romney gets credit for all the good things we've done."
Something like that. I don't have time to try to find out what KO episode that was.

So yes, the job has too much BS, and yes, he's running. It's both.

and I'm quite sure the Obamas knew that when they decided he would run for president. It comes with the job and and anyone who cannot withstand the baseless criticisms probably wouldn't pursue a political office, especially that of the White House.

I think you're probably being subjective in your opinion. I personally don't know if I could handle it either, but Obama most certainly can.
