3. Are you also bitter because there are no flying mountains and perpetual motion machines?
Edited on Sat Jul-24-10 01:03 PM by Richardo
Because the idea of any US administration pursuing any other US administration on war crimes charges is just as big a fantasy.

This biography is great:

When told he swung at too many bad pitches: "If I hit it it's not a bad pitch."

7. "You cannot trust Barack Obama......"
"He has been groomed to be president since he was picked by the Bildeberg Group years ago..."

"He does not believe in God, and is turning the country Socialist.."

"And his father was a Muslim, he went to a Muslim school.."

All this from a woman I bumped into while shopping in a small city in Ontario, CANADA... :(

I said.. "Well several years ago I was really very sick, and I was very pleased to have the Canadian Health Care System looking after me.. So I didn't have to think about putting a mortgage on the house to pay for treatment"..

"And it doesn't matter to me if he is Muslim"...

She said that she had been reading this in a book she was given.. and she was so afraid of what she had been reading that she completely forgot she was living in a country, Canada, with a "Socialist" Health Care system.

I came out of the encounter, shaken.. and wondering who is publishing this stuff... and is it affiliated with some weird Church groupy thing? She did look like a TeaPerson, of the well dressed variety..

Strange.. very strange...

10. She was so upset by what she read...
That the book must have been written with promoting fear of Obama, as a clear intention..

I could see her coming back to some sort of reality when she thought about how having Ontario Health Care would also care for her if she got sick..

Funnily enough, its not that I haven't thought that the Bildeberg Group etc, could be pulling strings behind the scenes, but I'd always linked that stuff to the Repub party :)

13. I truly think when people get caught up in the different theories on things
they lose their way.. They look for articles and books that support their point of view.. and can completely turn a blind eye to the truth.

:hi:

17. So true, and it showed me something very clearly.....
That the RightWing Propaganda machine, appealing to fear and/or anger over reality...

Is really a successful tool to use against the unwary in any country...even here in the land of the Socialist Health Care system.

18. It was printed in a book.
It MUST be true.

:sarcasm:

(I'm betting she read Corsi's craptastic distortion of "Dreams of my Father.")

20. I was experiencing cognitive dissonance and began backing away..
I've followed DU for so long and commend you all so much for fighting against the exact same attitude I was seeing and listening to in otherwise sensible Ontario...

Though, I'd have thought that the MSM was mightier than the pen,

But, as you say, she read it in a book, therefore it was true.

For it to resonate with her, I think the religious angle was the hook... and the rest followed into her mind so realistically that she failed to realize where she was living..

Unsafe/ Scary/ and a strong hint of not a valid President.. Maybe colour was never mentioned but the hidden factor she expected me to see.

And I have no idea who she is at all.. we were discussing the sale of flowers in the garden dept.
