If you don't enlist, does that make you a "chickendove"?

1. I could play this game all day. :)
BTW, there are conservatives who join the Peace Corps, too. What do we call them?

2. I'm just getting frankly outraged by the way people are acting.
It's entirely disingenuous to say that if you support the escalation that you "love war" or that you absolutely must enlist. It's just a convenient strawman that avoids talking about the actual policy ramifications or either action or inaction. It's utterly childish.

13. many adults still have the brain capacity of children
for some reason their higher brain functions don't fully develop.

they are unable to comprehend the long-term consequences of their demands.
so they try holding their breath to get their way.

7. You can promote peace by being a peaceful, constructive person
Edited on Thu Dec-03-09 12:14 PM by Oregone
Working in the community, raising good children, participating in charities...

You aren't allowed to regress to a primative state and promote war individually. You must join a collective war entity to do so, such as the US Military

Your argument just doesn't hold water

11. Huh? People promote war individually every day. You never heard of
Glen Beck? I don't think HE is in the military - he's too crazy even for today's relaxed enlistment standards.

8. No, it doesn't.
Some people dedicate their lives to the cause of peace and social justice through private and public service as teachers, healers, activists, etc.

If you want to help with the war effort announced by the president, enlisting is the most efficient and morally consistent way to to it.

If you are worried about the lower wages of a grunt in the service, I suppose you could sign up as a mercenary instead.

Here's a link to help you with that.

10. Peace Corps is a great organization, but there is something you should know.
They don't post people to war zones.
