5. In SC, I believe the party requires a candidate to sign a pledge not
to pursue the seat, should one lose in the primary.

This could be complicated in "fusion voting" states (such as SC) where a candidate can appear on more then one ballot line. For Instance Cand. Smith can be nominated as a Democrat, and Green, and Socialist and appear on the ballot three times, combining the votes. If La. is like this then the Greens or any other recognized, ballot access, party could concievably run him and if he did not pledge to pursue the seat, he could accept the nomination.

All but four states have laws that prevent primary losers from running as independents, Arkansas is one that doesn't allow it.
