This isn't theater, folks peoples lives are at stake...
I am so glad that president Obama brought this up when asked by Where in the world is Matt Lauer if he should be more angry.

Will people finally realize that there is an adult in the White House not a frat boy, not a stud, not a patrician, not an Actor.

2. They want a left wing Reagan, apparently
It's rather odd that they just want another actor. Someone who "appears" to be solving the problem, or can be "perceived" to be solving the problem, whether the problem is reality actually gets solved or not!

It's like giving someone a job because they look the part rather than have the qualifications. Such a company is not going to do as well as one who hires someone who actually knows what they are doing.

People would rather be operated on by someone who they perceive is a good surgeon, or one who may not look so good but actually is. This is our country's number one weakness. We lead the world in entertainment with Hollywood. We even elected an actor President once. But Hollywood is not real.

11. "Hollywood is not real."
Edited on Tue Jun-08-10 10:20 AM by depakid
Neither were the expectations purposefully created and the promises made without intentions of keeping them during the campaign.

If ever there was a made by Hollywood deal, the Hope campaign was it.

Now, let's see if we can learn from the mistakes and have a better second act.

5. I feel bad that you are so pessimistic...
But then again, it is easier to always look at the dark side then you won't be disappointed...

15. The U.S. Is Not A Majority Progressive Nation
Not by far. 27% of the population still believes that Bush was a good president. They only need 33% of the remaining 74% of the population to re-gain control of the government.

Given these numbers and political reality, you should not be disappointed in the job that Obama has done.

16. wow, that's what you call damning with faint praise
So, I shouldn't be disappointed in Obama because he's not a rethug? I want more from a president, especially a so-called democrat. I never thought Obama was progressive - Never. But, I did think he would do his best to make this a more equitable, just and less owned by corporations.

7. The media is "theater". It is what they do. Pure entertainment. It ceased being news a long time ago

10. Reaganesque?
This harkens back to the Reagan days when they had to tell him which emotion to play.

The rest of the time, he was trying to figure out how to keep most of us out of his "shining city on the hill".

12. The "anger" issue is a misdirect. People want to see him in control.
I think that "anger" meme is an intentional misdirect. Because of course we don't want empty emotion. Emotion with action behind it would be ideal, but I'd settle for action. We're not getting it.

13. I think you nailed the distinction - although I disagree that we're not getting action. nt
