So I come across an article on the Hill where Darell Issa is calling the Sestak scandal Obama's "Watergate." He says, "This may be the way business is done in Chicago, but it’s not the way things are done in our nation’s capitol and I am intent on getting to the bottom of this..."

Add that to the 7 GOPers on the Senate Judiciary Committee asking AG Holder to appoint a special prosecutor to look into the matter, and it's enough to scare our lot and give us all flashbacks of the Clinton presidency mired in gridlock because of trifling political attacks like this, especially when the GOP controlled congress... You know this is where they are going with this.

And to this, we all need to regroup and remember who the enemy here really is. They just reminded us again.

And this time, we must not let the 90s happen all over again.

1. Agree
a lot of DUers didn't like Clinton's centrist politics, but I expect they hadn't lived through Nixon, Reagan, and Bush I. And they somehow forget there were huge differences between Bush II and Clinton, plus the fact that the Repubs controlled the Supreme Court and the Congress for much of Clinton's tenure.

3. What an ass. His indignation is laughable. Someone needs to
hit him over the head with a clue stick. If it's good enough for ronny raygun, it's good enough for everyone. I will say this is getting old and boring...

Fox News' Dick Morris' baselessly claimed that an alleged job offer by the Obama administration to Rep. Joe Sestak would constitute an "impeachable offense." However, the Reagan administration reportedly made a similar offer to a candidate, and legal experts have rejected the claims that such offers are illegal.

Morris baselessly claims alleged job offer was "clearly a violation of law"

Care to even consider the notion of war criminality for Bush.

There is a lot wrong with this guiding philosophy of his - but if he was impeached, we would end up with Biden.

Who knows? Maybe he will start having the backs of us average Americans after this Brouhaha.

Not likely but still. One can always hope.

5. Really. Nobody cares.
There are two wars going on now, an ecological disaster in the Gulf, an economy still climbing out of a big hole and North Korea's latest sabre rattling.

So no, outside of Fox News Headquarters, this is not on anybody's radar screen.

11. Some more Issa bullshit..
The most recent Republican press conference,

Darrell Issa: I would like to make a statement first. It has not become clear that Obama offered Joe Sestak a job that he was clearly qualified for. Mr. Sestak turned down the job and ran for Senate instead. This has been the most alarming development to date. It now looks like Obama actually did nothing wrong, and actually did something that is done in politics every day. This was done in an obvious attempt to get Republicans and the press to overreact to it in order to make us all look bad. Obama used the power of his office to do nothing consequential while creating an atmosphere where this all seems very consequential in order to make Republicans look as if they have no consequence. I am appalled that President Obama engaged in this type of action and believe that his lack of doing anything wrong as president while allowing us to make the case that he was doing something wrong is an impeachable offense. I have a letter here from seven Republican members of the judiciary committee asking Eric Holder to appoint a special prosecutor to determine if indeed nothing was done wrong in the Sestak case, in which case the Obama administration should be force to account for itself in this situation.

8. Dems. should say ok, as long as we have hearings about criminality of Bush/Cheney...
if he feels they have time for one, they must have time for the other.

9. The Dems just don't get it
This is how the game is going to be played and they need to wake up to that reality. They missed their chance from 2006 to 2008 when they had a majority in the house and "took impeachment off the table".

Sestak apparently shot his mouth off and started this whole flap. I don't think he gets it either. The liberal media love this kind of crap and he played right into their hands.

There really is nothing to this, even less than Whitewater, but this is the kind of shit that keeps this country from getting anything done. Anything positive, anyhow.

And since we won't get anything done, the Dems might as well get right down in the mud and throw some of this right back in their faces.

Might as well enjoy our trip into the third world.

10. Ask that opportunist ass-half about his own criminal record and then tell him to sit the fuck down..
Edited on Thu May-27-10 03:55 PM by truebrit71
...and shut the fuck up..

..or President Obama needs to have him over for a little chat.."Darrel, I will get you 2 special prosectuors, 1 for your little witch hunt, and 1 for the war crimes committed on your watch the last 8 years..Deal?"

That would just about put an end to that impeachment talk I think...

16. If Holder doesn't tell them to go cheney themselves
and takes them seriously, after Reagan offered jobs not to run and Bush and Rover have five or seven they pulled including asking Phewlenty not to run in the primary and let Norm Coleman have the senate nomination. I think we should call for Holder to investigate Issa and the seven senators for slander and libel.

Issa is not in a position of power and the smart money says he won't be after November, either. So he can bitch and moan and stamp his feet all he wants, but he'll be bitching to empty air.
