Obama is NOT Superman
Edited on Thu May-27-10 12:01 PM by LiberalFighter
Andrea Mitchell, Chris Matthews and others in the media should go take a dive in the Gulf of Mexico.

On Edit: The media people in too many cases are not honorable people.

For the record. I did not support Obama or any Democratic nominee back in 2008 Primaries. My hope was for Gore.

Sure Obama is not perfect and he has done some things I didn't care for but overall he has been a 1000% better than Bush and possibly 2000% better than whatever McCain would had done. And I also understand that not everything is known by the general public on the workings of the administration or all of the appointments and changes made.

Also for the record. I would had supported Hillary Clinton for President and continue to feel that she would had made a good President too. She has demonstrated that she is a good Secretary of State just as she did when Senator for New York.

10. The blame goes on the media and it shall be placed there
for their side show carnival atmosphere.

None of his supporters who I knew ever thought he was a "superman"..nor did any of us think he was perfect.

4. Obama is doing a good job in his address to the people.
He has put some of the blame on Congress for the legislation that requires action within 30 days for oil drilling permits.

He has explained the actions the admin took from day 1.

6. Nobody was asking for superman. How about a leader who is "a man of the people"
instead a subordinate and/or a partner with the BIG OIL INDUSTRY?

8. "What do you want him to do- swim down there & plug the hole up with a boulder?"

I hear you- I'm also un-amused by all the strawmen out here.

As others have pointed out, Bush put the policies in place, but Obama & his 60 senators did little or nothing to reverse it. He does not have to be "Superman" to finally reverse this course- just the leader of the free world who is also a man of the people.

Great post!

13. Obama never had 60 Senators. Lieberman was not a Democrat and never
a secure vote. He certainly wouldn't have voted to restrain the oil industry.

11. To me, the crime is not that he can't plug the leak. It's that he still sucks up to big oil.
Edited on Thu May-27-10 06:11 PM by LittleBlue
The media are wrong on that count, that he can do something about a leak nearly a mile under the sea.

The true crime is continuing to allow offshore drilling. There should be a ban on it effective immediately, and I see the president defend offshore drilling at his last presser. Terrible.

14. ANYONE could have been 100% better than Bush.
I didn't expect a troop surge, a green light for drilling, a Republican health care "plan" and so on. Just because he's guaranteed my vote in 2012 (by default only, at this point) doesn't mean I'm required to be happy with what I've seen so far.
