Halcro will drop his run for Congress
Andrew Halcro, sometime politician, blogger, rent-a-car magnate and best dressed man in Alaska, will not challenge U.S. Rep. Don Young in the 2010 Republican primary.

Halcro announced on his blog this week that he is preparing to roll out Halcro Strategies, a "comprehensive consulting business specializing in advertising, research, public policy and crisis management." Then he said a bunch of things about the services he'll provide, provided a link to a PDF, blah blah blah -- but didn't address the really pressing question of what that meant for his candidacy. So I asked him: Does the rollout of Halcro Strategies mean Don Young just lost a challenger, or are you going to juggle consulting with candidacy?

"I like to think that Don Young has lost a challenger, but Alaska's economy has gained a man who will help companies grow in the face of record government spending and political indifference," Halcro wrote in a typically eloquent e-mail. "But then again, I also like to think the Red Sox will beat the Yankees this year because I'm a true believer."

1. This is really too bad.
Andrew's a good guy, even though I don't always agree with him. I don't know anything at all about this Sheldon Fisher person who is the other candidate in the Republican primary except that our religious neighbors have his sign in their yard. I will, of course, be voting for Harry Crawford, who so far is the only Democrat running for Young's seat.
