1. Clearly he is ...
a crypto-Jew, or he wouldn't be having these "secret" seders in the White House.

2. Do we even know the religion of most of the other world leaders?
Edited on Tue Mar-30-10 09:34 AM by BrklynLiberal
I remember reading that most people, including Canadians, did not know that Pierre Trudeau's religion until he died and they saw the funeral.

My bottom line...Who cares? this RWingnut emphasis on "Christian" value is such a crock of crapola..

5. He's always been open about the fact that his prejudice
against gay people comes from his version of Christianity. So what's your point? That he and the other religious bigots in Congress oppose equal human rights for all Americans while waving a cross as an excuse for their own petty neurosis?

9. I think I just answered the sarcasm in kind
Snark gets snark, when that snark is using elements that are used to prevent equality for all. This faith stuff is dead serious, as it is Obama's excuse for discrimination against gay people. So forgive me if I did not answer this with gales of laughter. When Christianity is labeled the reason for discrimination, it is just not funny.
If the 'faith' was not the stated reason for prejudice, it might be fodder for humor. As it is, it is fodder for a snotty reminder of that fact. Want a better reaction? Write funnier stuff.

7. I wonder if the rise in religious fervor is more an indication of loss of faith in an American
Government that has lost all legitimacy. There is very little left of what I was taught in school made the American Way great. We are not a nation of laws as opposed to personalities any longer. We do not have a free press any more. Any pretext of moral superiority is belied by our arrogant world actions. We do not cherish democracy when the electorate of sovereign states don't vote for our candidate. Our politicians are punchlines to credibility jokes. And we've become the World's richest third-world nation - selling our resources to industrialized nations at wholesale, and buying back finished goods at retail. Only two things are left of our greatness: Military power, and hubris, and that is, as we are seeing, a deadly combination.

Some people need an institution to cling to. America has rejected People, and some of the People have found a new institution.
