Sotomayor is really impressive. I'm watching her on CSPAN, and I really admire her temperment.

2. If your looking for places that would give a fair objective reading of the President's
actions you have come to the wrong forum.

4. I'm sure Bush or McCain would have appointed someone just like Sotomayor though.
After all, Obama is no different. :sarcasm:

5. exactly

It appears that Sotomayor is not just smart but that she will have an impact on other justices as well.

How far back do you have to go to see a Justice that appears this early in her term to have such a big impact on the future of the court.

7. Wow, I hadn't thought about that aspect..
"It appears that Sotomayor is not just smart but that she will have an impact on other justices as well."

And, to think..mccain didn't want her..wonder if that will have any influence in the Senate election in Arizona?

I wish her well in the vipers' 5 nest.

does.

6. There are two reasons I can see for that
The first, she's simply echoing the votes that Justice Souter would have made, and second, there have not yet been a lot of decisions released by the court this early in the term.

We'll all have more to look at by July.

equally disturbing to Lindsey Graham?

14. Yes, but apparently we're not supposed to mention that SCOTUS appointments are important
because alleged progressives aren't falling for that anymore.

15. 2 things
there's only 2 things I'll give credit to Obama for, funding stem cell research and appointing Sotomayor.

His real colors will show when he has to replace one of the corporatists on the court.

16. I was reading a list in the Barack Obama Group of all the
major accomplishments our President has achieved. The list is quite remarkable. He hasn't been perfect (no body has) but he was left with the worse mess since The Great Depression. I think he's doing an outstanding job. I think it's very unrealistic to expect a president to do every single thing every one wants him to do.

18. If that is your test you may have to wait a long time and it might never happen.

The next two to go are Ginsberg and Stevens, both on the left. The rest, especially Roberts and Alito are fairly young by Supreme Court standards. Scalia and Kennedy are in their early 70's but probably would last until the next Presidential term.
