Why does the mother-poll-loving media keep allowing the GOP to say Americans don't want HCR?
I just watched ABC's "This Week." I usually stop watching at the round table, but this time I just let it play on in the background. George Will was on there, predictably, telling us that the Senate was doing the bidding of America by saying "no." Some other conservative drone at the table was saying the same thing, that people simply don't want anything to change with their health insurance. At CPAC, Eric Cantor, et al told us that "no" is what everybody wants.

Yet all of the polls show most people agree with the goals of healthcare reform. Of course, these same people often disagree with the overall muddied "Obama's going to kill your grandma with a deathpanel and take away your health insurance" idea that the GOP has successfully branded everything. OK, people hate the strawman, but that's not the plan being presented.

So why on TV do I keep hearing the GOP mouthpieces, elected or otherwise, say that they're standing up for what people want with "no?" People want lower costs. They want to do away with lifetime coverage limits. They want a system that doesn't look at pre-existing conditions. "No" doesn't bring us any of that, yet nobody ever challenges the brainless on that.

1. Why do people on the Corporate Controlled Media allow the Corporate Line to be spouted?
That is a real puzzle.

4. Partially because they DON'T like major elements that the complicit Dems have in their propsal
And rightly so.

Mandates without at least some public option and taxing health benefits (forcing people into junk insurance) isn't popular for good reason.

And the fact that most of the incremental improvements wont kick in for years isn't going to help the Dems with this matter either.

5. The M@#%$Y@(#HM lets repukes lie every single second.
I mean, that's all repukes DO is lie. If they weren't allowed to lie, we'd never hear a peep out of them.

God, wouldn't THAT be nice.

7. If Americans still had accountability mechanisms in their media- as they had for 50 years
Republicans (and just about every other corrupt interest) couldn't lie to us with impunity, and public discussion of the issues might actually be driven by facts again.

As it is in other (and more successful) western nations.

6. Because that is what they do......
and WE don't do a thing about it, so they continue!

If we spent as much time dogging out the media as we do Rahm,
we might get it done.....but you know; priorities are as they are. :(
