1. I don't know either, but I'm sure there were a few.
Six justices turned out for Obama's speech, but that's a rarity. There's usually no more than three or four. One year, Reagan didn't have any show up.

2. They should have attended all of them
not unless they are sick members of the SCOTUS always attend the SOTU addresses.

Although Thomas might have slept through a few of them

5. That's just not true. There's always a few absences, and it's very rare that all nine show up. n/t

8. thank you
I always remember seeing some Supreme Court justices @ the SOTU ....
I thought they came as a group. I remember looking for Rehnquist when
he was very sick and he showed up.

13. not exactly in agreement with that ...
along the lines of the way that the Pres and Vice Pres normally are not attending an event at the same time ...

I would suspect that there needs to be a minimal presence in the court if something should occur ...

9. Scalia, and Stevens never attend. Breyer always attends. Others are hit and miss.
Thomas attended one Bush SOTU, four Clinton. He also attended Obama's address to Congress last February (which technically wasn't a SOTU address, although it was called that by some).
