Brown: "I think it's important that everyone get SOME form of healthcare..."
Edited on Wed Jan-20-10 12:16 PM by Clio the Leo
.... he just said that in his presser this morning.

But this is the first I'm aware of a GOP member of the Senate saying this ... granted, he wants to "go back to the drawing board" and is asking "what's in it for Mass?" but this dude is going to be interesting to watch.

6. He is definately not a liberal..
Did you hear this guys rambling acceptance speech Tues night?

I mean when he wasn't blathering about his daughters being "available", the guy was hitting every GOP holy grail on the list. He even ranted about spending our money to kill terrorists instead of paying to give them legal representation.

Brown is just a bit more clever than most, but he is most certainly not a closet liberal.

5. Ug, he just said, "I'm going to be a Scott Brown Republican"....
.... not a conservative Republican or a big tent Republican, there's another rallying cry right there. There's the new "I drive a truck" and "it's the people's seat"

12. He reminds me a lot of Palin.
Yes, he might be a little smarter than Plain but of course that's not saying much. But it looks like he is trying to use the same shtick that she uses.

7. Frankly, I think this guy is an opportunist and if he wants to keep Mass happy he will have
to do some fancy footwork. Hey, maybe at some point to save his ass he might even join the Dems.

He'll worry about the people just before the next election.

9. Of course they are going to give lip service to HCR.
They are not that stupid. For political reasons they will make it appear that they favor health care reform. But believe you me, if they get back in power they absolutely will not pass any kind of meaningful HCR that the American people need and demand.

16. So typical, and people always fall for it
Act like a very reasonable, bipartisan, populist and then when it comes down to crunch time, smack everyone in the face with a reality stick and vote with the other Republicans.

Arlen Spector has done this a grazillion times as a Republican and now, laughably, he is one of "us". But he has always gotten away with it so why can't Brown? Besides, people will forgive Brown more because he looks a hellova lot better than Spector naked.

17. This joker could be the powerful senator, if he wanted to be
He won't be, because it is a sure bet he'll vote in lockstep like all the others, but if he'd actually be bipartisan on issues like jobs, financial regulation and climate change, he'd actually have a great deal of power and might do some good things.

But he won't.

has to walk a fine line here. He worked hard to win the seat but will he work hard for the People of Mass or the teabag party of NO?

be bowing down to Limbaugh like the rest of the republicans.

25. He'll soon become predictable
Brown campaigned on three things in the following order:

  • Being the 41st vote to derail HCR.
  • Lower taxes.
  • Killing more terrorists.

On the radio today, I heard a lot of MA Democrats (at least they identified themselves as Democrats) who crossed over to vote for Brown say they did so because he vowed to kill the current HCR legislation. The other things he campaigned on were of lesser importance to them.
