Obama Congratulates Brown on 'Well Run' Campaign

January 19, 2010 10:58 PM

President Barack Obama on Tuesday night called state Sen. Scott Brown (R) and congratulated him on his victory in the Massachusetts Senate contest over Democrat Martha Coakley, commending him on a "well run campaign," according to a statement released by White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs.

"The President told Senator Brown that he looks forward to working with him on the urgent economic challenges facing Massachusetts families and struggling families across our nation," Gibbs said.

Obama also called Coakley and thanked her "for her hard work," Gibbs said.

1. But,
Edited on Wed Jan-20-10 12:12 AM by FrenchieCat
shouldn't obama have flown down to MA and kicked Brown's ass,
and then kicked him the groin....and told him to play ball, or else?

Naw...he stayed classy, as always.

What a wimp!

6. Ah yes, the whole "LBJ treatment"
that many people here think would work so *famously* with the President's political opponents in Congress. Well, he's way too classy for that and I for one appreciate it.

12. It was a presidential move!!! Classy
I also liked that Brown called Victoria Kennedy. Even though she did NOT want him to win.

13. Mr. President, that Senator is not going to do a thing to help any struggling
family, but encourage them to pick themselves up by their bootstraps, maybe?
