Fox News Sunday discussion panel make no mention of Haiti earthquake
Edited on Sun Jan-17-10 01:46 PM by zulchzulu
Granted, the Haiti earthquake should not be a political issue, but it was made so by Pat Robertson and Rush Limbaugh and their asinine comments. Pat Robertson had stated, Haiti made a pact with the devil when it broke away from France. Rush Limbaugh spewed, There goes Obama again he lives to help the downtrodden. There were more comments, but it's hardly worth taking up pixels on a screen.

So I figured that Fox News Sunday host fill-in Brent Hume, who did cover the story in a portion of the program, would have at least mention the quake in some matter throughout the program's political discussion.

The lead discussion started with the Massachusetts senate race. The usual torpor from the overly-GOP crowd...

During a "tease", Hume did mention the Northridge quake in LA, which happened on this day in 1994.

OK, I thought, maybe they will discuss the Haiti quake politics.

However, with no mention to Haiti, Hume directed the skewed "discussion" to healthcare reform legislation.

Meanwhile, other Sunday news shows like Face The Nation focused on the Limbaugh story with Bush and Clinton.

I'm betting that Limbaugh told Fox News they better not mention his foolish comments... or else...

Combine that with the fact that GOP/PNAC neocon zombies like Charles Krauthammer and William Kristol probably didn't want to bring up the matter, since more embarrassment directed toward the Religious Right's hero Pat Robertson and the GOP Uber-Mouthpiece and drug-addled gasbag Rush Limbaugh might be "off message" for the Fox News brand.

They are shivering in their boots for fear of what Limbaugh might spew back at them.

1. "Haiti is such an inconvenience. Smirk." - Fox Republicon Propagandists
"We cannot be bothered. Let them pull themselves up by their own sandal straps. We find our precious time is much better spent advocating MORE tax cuts for wealthy republicons. Smirk."

2. Rush has no real sway with Fox ...
They all just naturally follow in the same direction ...

I can tell you why Fox has next to no coverage of it ...

Because it would not portray BO in a negative manner ...

It is no more complicated than that ...

EVERYTHING they do now has in some way a slant to try to chip away at BO's legitimacy and to stoke the fires of dissention within the country. To cover Haiti would mean to cover our coming together to help Haiti, which is not splitting the country and shows that things are not as bad as they want to make them out to be ...

3. With this weekend push for MA senate race, empowering Obama would be bad for GOP
As you said, it is clearly the mission of Fox News to do all they can not to give attention to:

1. ...what Rush, their titular head, has said about Haiti

2. ...what Obama has done by getting George W. Bush and Bill Clinton as part of a rallying cry for the decency of the USA.

Fox got their marching orders from the GOP. As Rush Limbaugh stated (and is Fox's mission), they want Obama to fail... even if it means ignoring Haitian victims. They're black, yunno.
