Chávez welcomes Paraguayan president-elect

Venezuelan President Hugo Chávez welcomed on Wednesday Paraguayan president-elect Fernando Lugo, who was to start his first official visit for three days, during which they would deal with major topics for both nations.

The incoming president arrived in Miraflores presidential palace together with Paraguayan ambassador Federico González and Venezuelan diplomatic representative in Asunción Nora Uribe, reported state-run news agency ABN.

In addition to the meeting with President Chávez, Lugo's agenda includes contacts with some ministers and social and religious groups.

Lugo is expected to take office next August 15th.
