Colombia Will Present Guerrilla Claim to OAS July 22
July 17 (Bloomberg) -- Colombia will take evidence it says proves the presence of Marxist guerrillas in Venezuela to a meeting of the Organization of American States next week.

Colombia will present its case on July 22 on the presence of rebel groups in Venezuelan territory, “which affect Colombia’s national security,” the country’s ambassador to the OAS, Luis Alfonso Hoyos, said yesterday, according to a statement on the president’s website.

On July 15, Colombia said it had satellite photos, videos and intelligence from rebel deserters that proved several guerrilla commanders are living in Venezuela. They include those known by the aliases as Ivan Marquez and Timochenko, who are members of the high command of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia, or FARC.

Some one will no doubt point out that there are lots of FARC guerillas living in Colombia too, but nobody claims that the Colombian gov't "allows" that, far from it.

2. Sure but,
Colombia doesn't give them safe haven, they exist despite Colombia's attempts to eradicate them. Of course, if they can exist in Colombia against the will of the government than they can exist in Venezuela against the will of the Venezuelan gov't. So, proof that they are in Venezuela doesn't ipso facto mean that Venezuela supports them. Colombia would need proof that Venezuela is intentionally giving them support and/or a safe haven.

My guess is that Colombia doesn't have such proof. Of course, the US had proof that Saddam had WMD's (lol) so I doubt that any proof offered would satisfy anyone.

4. correct, however Venezuela is denying they are there, so there is more drama
to come. Chavez already admitted to meeting with Reyes and there is a pic with Chavez hugging one of the FARC guys identified as being in Ven. Chavez has given and likely still supporting the FARC IMO. even if I was a FARC leader, I wouldn't count on Chavez for protection. he'll do anything.
