Hmmm. Seems that I saw John McCain at least that many times on the US lapdog RW media, giving misleading speeches filled with propaganda and invective, every day in the lead-up to the last presidential election here.

2. Reporters Without Borders is like Multinationals Without Borders--their loyalty is to Money,

not to any country or people, or ethical principle. Exxon Mobil, Halliburton, Bechtel, Wal-Mart, Gap, et al--all launched here, using our infrastructure, our tax breaks, our highly productive labor and our liberal democracy--gone global and treasonous and fascist. Reporters Without Borders parallels this lack of groundedness--lack of accountabilty to anyone, of multinational corporations--and is a reflection of the toadyism, lack of journalistic ethics, and love of billionaires in reporters in all corpo/fascist 'news' outlets: the Associated Pukes, Rotters, the New York Mimes, the Washington Rust, Faux News, Cloudy Channel, Time dragonzine, Newswaste, the Wall Street Urinal--the lot. None of them have "borders" within which they are loyal to anything but MONEY; none of them have boundaries beyond which they will not go in service to their moneyed masters.

The name "Reporters Without Borders" is, in itself, a cheap, P.R. imitation, trying to cash in on the reputation of worthy organizations like "Doctors Without Borders." And nothing exposes Reporters Without Borders more than their putrid, lying disinformation about the news media in Venezuela. RWB has no concept of what a "free press" is, and, like the multinationals behind them, they consider "free speech" to be the right of billionaires, not the right of the peons, slave laborers and cannon fodder who exist to make a few people mega-rich. Three quarters of the media in Venezuela serves a tiny fascist elite who, the last time they gained power--for three days--suspended the Constitution, the national congress, the courts and all civil rights, and kidnapped the elected president and threatened to kill him if he did not resign. That is what the fascist 'news' monopolies in Venezuela espouse--rule by the rich with no rights for anybody else. They dominate the airwaves, much as the corpo/fascist 'news' monopolies do here. Venezuela does have laws against misuse of the public airwaves--like we used to have here (the Fairness Doctrine)--but when the Chavez government enforced the law, against a 'news' monopoly (RCTV) that actively participated in the three-day violent fascist coup, Chavez got blasted all over the map, by the toady "reporters" of the fascist, multinational empire. This was a real test of RWB. Do they really support "free speech" and a "free press"? And the answer is "No!" They support the 'right' of billionaires to foment fascist coups.

It doesn't take a genius to watch them long enough to spot their rancid activist agenda. Most DU'ers could smell them a mile away a long time ago.

Venezuelans will vote in a referendum, on 15 February, on constitutional amendment sought by President Hugo Chávez on an end to limiting terms of office, in particular that of the head of state, in a campaign that has become mired in tension and seen frequent assaults on the media.

Reporters Without Borders is releasing an inventory of the president’s broadcast speeches - known as “cadenas” - delivered throughout the year, along with partial results of a study of the coverage of the referendum campaign by the main broadcast media, public and private.

It is not for Reporters Without Borders to pronounce on the objective of the referendum, the result of which is a matter for Venezuelan citizens. However and taking into account what is really at stake, whether president Chavez will be allowed to run again after 2012, we note that polarisation of the media has widened still further to a point that interferes with calm debate and exposes journalists to greater insecurity.

Chávez has responded to an opposition campaign that confuses ‘unlimited re-election’ with ‘presidency for life’, by monopolising public debate through his ‘cadenas’ which are of doubtful interest and worth. An election campaign, an ideal time for pluralism of opinions, should allow an equal share of airtime, which the state is supposed to guarantee,” the organisation said.
