I need to be talked down.
Right now - I f-ing hate Joe Biden....

Yes, you heard me right.
The funny thing is, I watched his stump speech in WA last nite, thought he was the best ever (ha) and didn't even catch this - but it's all over the news.

Last nite while discussing Powell's endorsement to the crowd he handed the McCain campaign the biggest talking point. He said "Mark my words" the next President will be tested....

Ya - I know what he was trying to say, but he didn't.

Here we go - thank you Joe Biden - you just gave McCain exactly what he wanted.

1. here -
"It will not be six months before the world tests Barack Obama the way it tested John F. Kennedy," he said.

Unmentioned was the fact that JFK was bruised by his initial testing: the failed Bay of Pigs invasion and a Vienna summit with Soviet leader Nikita Khruschev.

2. Huh? I don't understand why you are so upset.

Obama WILL be tested, over and over again. Any president coming in now has incredible problems. However, given McLame's temper and anger I don't want him at the wheel and neither do many others, Colin Powell included. Obama is calm and unruffled when he has been tested and granted the presidency is bigger then a campaign but what Biden said is not a McCain talking point. The next president will be tested and must stand up to the pressure. Many are afraid of what McLame's temper could lead us into and his "judgement" on the Iraq War has been laughable. He is also 72 years old. Kennedy learned from his mistakes and is widely regarded as a great, inspiring president. I feel more comfortable with Obama at the helm. Experience does not make one great, it is judgment as well and Obama and Biden have that together. McLame has bad judgment and no experience with Palin. Did I talk you down yet?

3. Take 3 deep breaths and relax.
Biden is correct, Obama will be tested, and he might get bruised in the the process. But, so far this campaign and the circumstances in the world leading up to the election have been a pre-test, for lack of a better word. He has been bruised and battered through-out this process, stumbled and gotten right back up. No one really knows what the future holds for Obama, and he is poised to become a great president, or not. I didn't care for Obama at first, but Powell was right, he does have a keen intellect and surrounds himself with the best of best (hence our Joe). So, when he gets tested, I have faith he will meet the issue head on and he will understand the problem and propose workable solutions. McCain, not-so-much, in fact in a crisis he might just work him self up into a stroke, then we'll have Prez Palin and we really will be screwed.

I don't think this will be blown up into a gaffe. The media focus for the next three weeks will be squarely focused on Obama and McCain, and mark my words, the MSM will start beating up on Obama 'cause they have proven over and over again, they want a horse race. We have truly witnessed the death of American journalistic integrity.

4. Thanks for trying to talk me down
but - Biden basically said that if Obama gets elected he will be tested.

Just google it - and read the comments.
Dems are as upset as I am. He shouldn't have said this.
I guess he said it at a closed door fundraiser, not the large event at Cheney stadium.

It's just one of those things you don't say.

All we can hope for is that McCain/Palin don't focus on it, nor the talking heads.
Like that's gonna happen. We'll have to see how it plays out.

5. Schuster talking about it right now.
Saying Powell took the experience argument right out of the equation and Biden put it right back on.

6. Schuster is right
If Biden had said that either of them would be tested that would be different. He said nations will want to test Obama specifically.

It reminded of all the fear mongering that the right has been doing against our party for years.

I still love Joe but I wish he hadn't said it.

9. They all blow over eventually
Some in less than 24 hours. It might not be a good idea to hang on every word and event this close to the election. There is always something to get upset about and anything a candidate does or says (especially if a Democrat) will be blown out of proportion.

10. I still don't get the big idea. Shuster also once said Chelsea was being pimped out by her parents.
People are naive if they think Obama won't be tested. He will be and he will learn from it. All rogue nations and Putin will want to know what Obama will do but Biden, Powell, and others think he has the judgment to make the right move on these issues. Powell's endorsement is paying off in some of the polls today. McCain would be tested on his temper. I think we all need to relax. I'm glad this is almost over.

11. You guys - I'm sorry I posted this.
I just asked the mods to delete this thread.

It was the first thing I heard when I woke up this morning and turned on the news.
I should've grabbed a cup of coffee, or taken my dog for a walk before I posted.

12. Don't apologize
There were a few people who were also troubled by the comments. I had already read about on another board. Most of the responses were the same as ours.

13. Hey pirhana, turn off the TV, the computer, etc.
and go outside for a walk. You need some fresh air.

With the 24/7 news cycle, we'll be onto something else shortly. Don't despair.

14. Here are my thoughts.
Whoever is elected is going to be tested. Yes, even John McCain. This will not be a test for experience, but rather for policy. They want to know if the new president is essentially another boosh. I believe that if either candidate behaves & reacts like boosh (& we know that Obama won't), you will see the world start to turn their back on America.

This is probably not what Biden meant, but this is my assessment of the 'test.'
