Biden Brigaders: I need some facts to debunk this worn out meme
"Joe is beholden to the credit card companies in Delaware." From some Puma on the Biden for VP thread. (She's obviously sour about HRC)

Anyone have a quick source that shows how much money cc lobbies have given to Dems? Pubes? I am going to look, but if you have a link,, I'd greatly appreciate it. :hi:

1. Oh Frack!
Hey, I just saw you out there. They are rehashing the same old crap that we've answered time and time again. They are just button-pushing. They are never FOR anything, just against Biden and anyone who supports him. I just don't understand the mentality at all. I've been "against" some Democratic candidates, but I didn't go out there and blast them day and night. First of all, it was inappropriate and second I knew there was a chance I would have to eat crow later.

The people making the accusations have been answered before, but they'll never quit. Meanwhile, some come here and read our reactions. Oh, that is SOOOO COOL (in High school maybe). I was so careful not to engage anyone in particular, but posted a general message to the negativity. I was still pounced on like I'd answered someone individually.

Meanwhile, it doesn't matter what they think or how we respond anymore, because Joe isn't running for anything. Obama has made his decision and no amount of hateful bashing will make a lick of difference. If Biden is the choice, these "folks" will either have to stay home, vote for McCain, or suck it up and shutup!!!

:hi: :hi: I think everyone else went to bed. We're the only ones left............:(

3. We've answered every accusation
over and over again, but they keep saying the same things. We've posted the list of contributions before and they just shutup, only to come back later on another thread with the same old shit. Then they used to come here and read our reactions to use against us! Well, now it doesn't matter. Joe isn't running for anything and Obama has made his choice. If he chooses Biden, some people will quietly disappear. I figure, let them go and push someone else's buttons. I'm not going to be suckered into those playground skirmishes again.

Some of them genuinely detest Joe, others seem to have other motives. I'm not falling for their tactics again.

I've had my buttons pushed too many times in my life. I think (or hope) I'm finally beyond that!!!

4. I alerted on that one idiot
I am just going to let it go from now on and not let them bait me. Like you said, Obama has made his decision, we'll know soon. And whomever it is, there is a good reason for the choice. Won't affect me one way or another. But I bet Biden gets a cabinet position, regardless.

It's not going to be Wes Clark either. Not enough political experience there. Trust me, I worked for him in 2003-2004. He's a very smart man, but doesn't know how to navigate DC.

5. That's the impression I've gotten about Clark
He is a wonderful person, but not the DC type.

I saw your post.

6. Clark was a bit
of a disappointment in the end. Actually all throughout the process. Looking back now, I do believe he was prodded by the Clintons perhaps to take the wind out of Dean's sails. I never wanted to admit that, but when Wes endorsed Hillary, I got the message.

His campaign after he jumped into the race (TOO LATE!) in Sept. 2003, was a complete disorganized disaster. I worked tirelessly as a grassroots volunteer in Charlottesville for more than 3 months, then when he opened offices in VA, they brought in some of Mark Warner's cronies and sort of minimized me. (Was a little miffed, but honestly did not want the headache. By then I had seen enough to know that the chaos was making me nuts.)

Anyhow, my impression of Clark was that he did not want the job, and that someone was pushing him into that direction. He was very unassuming man, very humble -- but watch out if you messed with his troops. He and his wife Gert, a lovely lady, just seemed out of place at times. By the end I felt sorry for them, the last time I saw Wes, he looked like a train wreck, his lips were so chapped, he was pale and gaunt, he had very little fight left in him. The campaign trail had really taken its toll.

So I am not surprised that he did not run again, the media also managed to excoriate Clark for his little gaffes. Why anyone would want to be President, I have no idea, it's a thankless job. Except in Bush's case, he made his cronies very rich. :nuke:

7. That's a shame
He evidently just isn't cut out for politics. I don't know how some of them survive the campaign trail. I know I would probably go berserk very quickly and I have very thin skin. Hopefully Clark will have a place in Obama's administration. He has a lot to offer.

10. Oh agree, he is a very smart man
I just don't think, in fact I know he hates the games. At one event (ok weird side story, Gert Clark thought I was her neighbor from Germany, she had me mistaken for someone else obviously) at an event in DC, there were some high rollers upstairs, a fundraising event. Evidently it was a little hair-raising for Mrs. Clark because she came done the stairs and walked over to me and said "there are some scary people up there." Then she shook her head, put on her game face and introduced her husband at the club.

They are just too real for the DC scene.

9. I'm not sure who you're referring to, or which thread.
I've put a couple of guys on ignore because they just won't let it die. And then I won't let it die, and it gets none of us anywhere. They have really strong opinions against Joe, and nothing we say is going to change that opinion and only gets me riled, so I' opting out. And there are several people who don't like Biden -- but more and more that do -- and it's been gratifying to see people change their minds and acknowledge the good he does and what he can contribute.

11. Here - and it should shut anyone up.

http://www.opensecrets.org/pres08/select.php?ind=F03

Then they'll argue that link is for banks, not credit cards companies, which is an extremely stupid argument. Credit card companies are funded by banks. Duh. Where else would credit card companies get their money? Infact, credit cards are an extremely high profit product for banks. Believe me,
I spent 25 years in the banking industry.

Another argument is that even Obama voted for the credit card companies.
There was a vote that would have capped cc interest rates at 30%. Obama voted against it.
(so did Joe).

So just tell these people to leave Biden alone! Dangit!

on edit - this one must be where the MBNA stuff comes from, but I wonder how much MBNA has given to others? Not that much for his homestate since 1989.
