Biden indicates he HASN'T been approached for VP?
Edited on Fri Jul-11-08 04:44 PM by gateley
A few others indicated they hadn't been approached, including Delaware Sen. Joe Biden. He said he is not seeking the job but also indicated he couldn't turn it down if asked. Still, he said: "I made it clear to him and everybody else, I never worked for anybody in my life. I got here when I was 29. I never had a boss. I don't know how I'd handle it."

I don't know where in that statement he's indicating he hasn't been approached - I'm wondering if they're referring to something else he said but didn't print??

Anyway, I don't think it's gonna be Biden. How could Obama ask someone who has made so very clear he doesn't want the job?

EDIT -- forgot to add the link.

This is on a post about Dodd for VP, by the way.

EDIT NUMBER TWO: I NEED MEDICATION! I forgot to add the link when I specifically came back TO add the link! Let's see if I can get it right this time:

1. Guess he really doesn't want the vp position.
You gotta love his candor.

2. Yeah, I REALLY 'got it' when he was on with Brian Williams.
And his candor in saying but of course he'd take it if Obama felt he would be a help.

AND it underscores what we've been feeling for a long time -- Joe the junior person on the staff? Just wouldn't work.

3. here's what Ambinder says:
http://marcambinder.theatlantic.com/archives/2008/07/is_clinton_being_vetted.php

On the other side, Obama's search team, in conversations with Democrats, have asked about Sen. Joe Biden, and the Biden team is aware of the interest. But Biden has also not been asked to provide documents; perhaps that will change, perhaps not.

So that clears it right up for ya! :D

4. It's kind of funny since SO MANY
of the pundits seem to think it's going to Biden.

The only person HIM/HERself we've heard from is Dodd. He's the one who spilled the beans on that.

So we've lost Webb, Clark (:(), and trying to think of other names that have been out there. Gotta admit, Dodd was a surprise to me.

5. I saw something about Richardson today
And it looked like he was being vetted by Obama, but Richardson was trying to evade the question.

9. Especially sporting that new beard!
It really adds character to his look! Very Joe Mantegna looking.

I know that sounds really shallow, but after four years of looking at Chimp & Snarl it would be nice to have a prez & vp that look better than average!

12. He does look very handsome with a beard.
Believe me it doesn't sound shallow - I LOVED it when Bill Clinton and Al gore were in office.

They were looking good in the 90's.... and there is (was) just something sexy about Bill.

Now it's Biden that makes me swoon.

I must like that combination of a good looking man in a suit and the power to put *Democratic* principles into action. (Please don't tell my hubby!:P)

6. someone on DU suggested the fact Dodd said something means it won't be him
And when I try to think back, didn't Obama say something like, if you hear a VP rumor, it's just a rumor?

13. Ya know -
I have a great little vegie garden in my backyard, and I was thinking about that.....

Probably should wait until my teenager goes away to college!

It's been a long while, but now that I am getting older, I hear it is good for medicinal purposes.:)

15. Herb in the garden is a good thing; however,
that merely addresses a day-to-day vitamin requirement. At our age and propensity, many will be seeking the Ancient Knowledge...
