Poll question: now that the dust has settled a bit:
Who are you going to throw your support to now that Joe Biden is no longer running, if anyone?

I am going with Obama now that Biden and Dodd are out. He was third on my list.

1. Joe is still on my primary ballot
I'm voting for him, even if it won't count. I'll vote for the nominee in the general.

2. Obama will never get my vote.
Edited on Sun Jan-06-08 01:28 PM by 1corona4u
He wants to make 'history', it's not about what's good for the country.

On edit;. Those of you who think you'll vote for Obama, to see if he picks Joe as VP, might be setting yourself up for another disapointment. I'd weight that out carefully. Just because you 'think' he should, doesn't mean he will.

29. No wonder why you said that about Mann Coulter -
Hillary is the Queen...as in King and Queen.

I would never even think of using that word in another context.

Right now I'm feeling like Biden must have at times when he would say something and wouldn't have a clue that it would be taken the wrong way.

I was very surprised, I must say. I suspected you didn't realize the connotation to which I referred when you responded as you did. That's why I 'splained my objection.

So is Edwards "screamy" then? I thought that was Hil. Maybe she should be frowny. We've seen a lot of that lately.

I think he should be "smiley". Of course Richardson should be "mopey".

I think I am obligated to go for Obama at the county covention in the first alignment - after that, there may also be a viability threshold to elect a delegate to the district convention, so it could be rough. Theoretically, delegates could be elected all through the process and support Joe at the national convention. Seems unlikely, but a lot can happen between now and then. Hopey / Screamy / Queenie ! LOL

Please stop over at the Iowa Forum and say hello :hi:

As for the county convention you are offically a free agent - but you must be pledged to the candidate with the most delegates in order to move on to the District/State Convention.

8. i'll either write in Joe or skip the primary all together
maybe Edwards or Obama...

we'll see what developes but i don't expect much will change for me.

However- should any of the candidates says they'll sign on to "The Biden Exit Strategy" he/she will have my vote. though i don't suspect it'll be a "she".

I have started looking at their various policies....My personal interest lies in the Ag policy since it has such an impact on my life. I hear all the time the other things they promise...
I have to tell you.............the top tier flat ass sucks
They are all going to save the family farm....uh-huh
and save them by promoting Ethanol....uh-huh
I hope some of the other policies that we don't see debated are not as superficial..

Sorry for venting.

....When I saw Joe's outline of Ag policy....I was suddenly jumping up and down...and yelling YES!!!....FINALLY!!!
HIs policy was laid out in the detail of all of his other policies..
As I type this I get madder and madder..................we have the most uninformed electorate in the modern world I swear.....I guess the easier to control us and make us feel good about the control

My...My....I sort of went off on a tangent here...*LOL*

34. you point out the fundamental flaw in what the "system" has become
The legislative body was to be the people who observe how the country is doing and draft legislation to keep things on an even keel - whether to keep the mail delivered, the shores defended, or the treasury solvent. As such, over time, they would doubtless develop expeertise on a number of subjects. It seems a natural career path to promote the most competent to the CEO position.

Yes, all three of the "top tier" are Senators (or ex), but all three have one term only under their belts. Hardly the seasoned veterans with encyclopedic knowledge.

All three set their sights on the POTUS spot early in their first term. I firmly believe that is the ONLY reason Clinton ever ran for Senate, and why she picked New York vs Arkansas or Illinois to relocate to. Like far too many middle managers in the private sector, they spend less time actually doing (Clinton's protestations aside) than they do scheming to get the next promotion.

If I sound like a bitter "seasoned veteran" who has been passed over for promotion in favor of someone younger and more politically connected, well, I guess you caught me.

19. How Progressive are Bidenites (in General)?
Would people support say a Bernie Sanders / Cynthia McKinney ticket and have Joe be their "Ambassador to the World" Secretary of State? That would require a third party, of course, which I do not envision our Joe doing - breaking off with the Democratic Party - the political cost to him, even if he remained in the Senate and went back under the Democratic Party flag would be huge!

20. I'm not so far to the left but am a solid Democrat
The best way to describe me is a Kerry Democrat, because I'd still vote for him before anyone else. Biden was my number one candidate because he's just so smart and experienced, especially on Iraq and foreign relations, and I also just like the guy. I also like Dodd but am suspicious of Hillary Clinton because she's too hawkish.

I'm suspicious of really far lefties because I fear that their extreme ideology could be just as bad for making policy as the far righties. I think Kucinich's "Dept. of Peace" is silly: that's what we have a State Dept. for! I get tired of Randi Rhodes really fast and think we need something more than lefty anger. I generally like Ed Schultz and Rachael Maddow.

That's the kind of Democrat I am. I'm proud to call myself a liberal.

35. i have never worn a label
I have views on things (actually, on everything - just ask anyone who knows me) and many of them are consistent with what is often called "populist." I am not religious (I don't call myself an atheist - that's a label) but have a pretty solid personal moral code. I don't make decisions on ideology. I analyze whatever the circumstances of an issue are, and look for the best solution to serve the good of the planet and life as we know it, not necessarily giving human life a priority over other forms.

I have a t-shirt my daughter gave me that says "Dirt-lovin tree-hugger." I don't mind that label :)

I agree with a lot of Edward's rhetoric, along with the points Michael Moore makes in his somewhat over-the-top books and movies.
I do not oppose the existence of corpoations; however they should not have personhood and should not be shielded from liability.

I like Biden because he is at once a champion of every human being and a pragmatist. He does not tilt at windmills, does not make grandiose sweeping claims that he is going to save the world; he just says, "ok, let's roll up our sleeves and see if we can save the world."

If I thought someone had a shot at doing that, I'd support them. If it meant offending the dem party, I would not care in the least.

36. I'm undecided what I will do at this point....
since my shot is over, and any primary support for a candidate would be only "symbolic" I can't decide if I will throw in with another candidate, or just sit back until the GE. I have toyed with writing in Biden in the GE or just not voting unless the nominee chooses Joe for VP and he accepts. I don't know. I just don't know.
