3. seems unlikely
many have criticized Iowa having so much say, and now I do too since they got it wrong, but in reality it is "retail politics" and if that does not work going from town to town in Iowa, then you're pretty much screwed anywhere else. After NH it is all big money TV campaigns, and if you don't have the cash you're not a player.

This, of course, is why Joe has sought public financing with a level playing field for the past decade or two.

4. But you know what sucks...
Edited on Thu Jan-03-08 10:06 PM by 1corona4u
if it would have been a straight vote, he would have been in the race. I'm hoping he stays in, even though he may not have great numbers in NH, they would be ther actual votes. Not voters who made the decision to bail out on Joe, and go with a front runner.

11. But we didn't bail out on Joe.
If we had held our ground, we wouldn't have done anything for him. We held out as long as we could, but we also wanted our vote to count in the end.

I was proud that my grandkids got up and fought for Joe...they didn't even know him, but they knew how strongly I felt about him and they fought for me. I nearly cried when I heard their stories.

American Idol-style politics and money beat us out. That's the way it's going to be.

8. let me modify my response
of COURSE he will get up. He may not get up and go on fighting this fight. He may get up and go back to the senate and be more aggressive than ever. But he will get up.

7. I've already decided to contribute to his senatorial campaign, although he
probably doesn't need much help there...

10. I think there's a better chance of
drafting Joe back into this race than there ever was of drafting Gore. American doesn't want to let go of Joe. I feel this in my heart.

Hell no, Joe - We won't let go!

12. Yes, I just heard from two Repugs (before it was announced Joe was leaving)
that if he was in the race, they would definitely vote for him, as he was the best of both sides and there was nothing on the Repug side they would vote for.
Sigh.

14. I think I will too. I'll probably pass on our primary (it's not until May) but I
want to do it in the General.

Unless something throws a wrench in the works -- like Bloomberg.

16. pretty much no chance in hell
on the extreme long shot that the three musketeers continue to be split evenly and there is not a 50+ percenter by convention time - and then on the chance that the convention delegates refuse to switch to each other, THEN if Joe is the most popular #2 it could happen. But oh-so-unlikely

BTW, if folks who think the caucuses are so weird haven't noticed, they are actually miniature versions of the convention
