Puff Quilt?? I can't remember the name of a blanket that I would like to make.
Edited on Wed Jun-10-09 05:18 PM by patricia92243
It was little squares sewn together and the name was something like Shadow Box or Window Box - something like that. Anybody able to help?? I've looked up various names on the net but can't find what I'm talking about.

Since posting this I've found pictures of a puff quilt. In a little town close to me, they have heirloom quilts for sell. I'm going to drive there and see if I can't at least find the name of what I want.

2. Thanks for the tip. I looked it up, but that is not it. I remember seeing one in a small town abou...
about 30 miles from my town. We are going to drive there soon and see if it is still there. I still want to make mine - not buy it - but that would at least get me started in the right direction.

3. check out quilter's cache
www.quilterscache.com

Marcia has brazillions of quilt patterns. You'll either go blind looking at them or get so many ideas you won't be able to sleep at night! ;-)

5. I saw a show years ago where Martha Pullen had come up with an easier way
to make a quilt like this, if you're interested. The pattern is not on her website, but I found instructions to the method she used here.

http://www.reddawn.net/quilt/circle.htm

I'm not a quilter, but this looked a lot easier to me than the traditional method.

6. Thanks for posting. I looked at the link and am going to give it some serious thought. It looks a
LOT easier. I only wish there were a picture of it rather than just a drawing, but it certainly does look like the same thing - or close enough - lol.

Again, thanks for posting the link.

7. i made a puff quilt about 34 years ago.
you cut squares of muslin about 2 in sq. and colored cotton about 3 in sq. you took a tuck in each side of the larger ones to make them measure 2 in, too. and sewed three of the sides with a little seam. you then stuffed the puff with polyester (at that time) and took a tuck in the last side and sewed it down, too. repeat ad nauseum. then sew them together in a pattern like a normal square variation, back it with a solid color or print cotton, and tie like a tied quilt. be prepared for someone to say it looks like a bunch of tits.
