Poland's conservative (surprise) government investigates gay teletubby

The crazy people are all over the world...

"I noticed (Tinky Winky) has a lady's purse, but I didn't realize he's a boy."

"At first I thought the purse would be a burden for this Teletubby ... Later I learned that this may have a homosexual undertone."

Polish Education Minister Roman Giertych has proposed laws sacking teachers who promote "homosexual lifestyle" and banning "homo-agitation" in schools.

But maybe not as bad as in America...

But in a sign that the government wants to distance itself from Sowinska's comments, Parliamentary Speaker Ludwig Dorn said he had warned her against making public comments "that may turn her department into a laughing stock."

3. Poland was and continues to house a very large, devout Christian conservative community
Edited on Tue May-29-07 04:24 PM by Selatius
Of course, 90 percent of Poland is Christian, but a sizable minority of them are what we would probably call religious conservatives. As far as Christian fundamentalism goes in Poland, there's no real track record of that, like abortion clinic bombings and attacks against religious minorities. Of course, under Stalinist/soviet domination, no such activity was tolerated, and Poland only recently left soviet orbit, so perhaps not enough time has passed for religious fundamentalism to make itself known.
