Romney Pledges Salary to Charity if Elected President

DOVER, N.H. (AP) -- Republican Mitt Romney, conceding that his business career helped him make more money than he expected, said Tuesday he would likely decline a salary as president and instead donate the money -- and more -- to charity.

During a question-and-answer session with Liberty Mutual employees, Romney said that despite his personal wealth -- his assets likely will total $190 million to $250 million -- he has committed himself to public service, from head of the 2002 Winter Olympics to one-term governor of Massachusetts.

"When I got started, I went to school and I never anticipated that I'd be as financially successful as I was, and then my business went far better than I expected it would," Romney, a former venture capitalist, told a woman who asked him how the country's political system could be corrected if most of the presidential candidates are millionaires.

Romney's assets makes him the wealthiest of all the presidential candidates, Democratic or Republican.

4. He's sooo transparent
BFD. Is he going to commit his VP to the same standard? What about after his term would be over?

That's a dumb, shallow campaign "promise". But, it probably got a standing ovation completely with fainting fans so overcome by his presence!

That's it...I'm on board. What a relief that I won't have to listen to all the bullshit issues for the next year and a half like the war, the economy, starvation, balnced budget, constitutionality of the executive branch...all those tedious things which even my idol David Brooks doesn't like to deal with.

thanks, Governor...

And his wife is a HOT BABE! I know this b/c he himself said it. She's a real MILF!

What a package!

:sarcasm: just in case...always a newbie around here to jump down my throat...

14. He's the wealthiest candidate running. Why would a pocket change salary help him anyway? What
a loser. BIG FUCKING DEAL! :eyes: And this is suppose to mean something? What? I doubt this will sit very well with unemployed middle America. He has so much freakin' money he can give up $200,000??? while middle America is starving, living pay check to pay check, trying to put gas in their cars and feed their families? Propaganda bullshit.

16. He did the same thing as governor
But not taking a salary from the State of Massachusetts didn't help him any. He still did a God-awful job. Lost businesses, lost population, lost jobs, big dig, etc. He told us that he would use his business skills that made him a gazillionaire and bring all these huge companies and thousands of jobs to Mass. He didn't do jack shit. All he did was travel the country signing his book about the Olympics and pimp Bush.

26. He did that in Mass.
No salary so he started running for president 1 year after he became governor. He is a compulsive lier and will not be a good president. He has a bigger ego than rove or bush. All the things in his add are false. Be careful and very afraid folks.

29. Smart Move
Romney is the one to watch. He is the favorite of the Bush brothers.
Slick and smooth he could be the marketing man's dream. Watch for NBC / General Electric , Fox and the other media whores packaging him over the coming months. The GOP love a vacant suit and you can't get more vacant than Romney.

How many times does one guy have to be caught deliberately misleading people before we write them off?
