George Bush and Abraham Lincoln

Bush has apparently gotten it into his head that he is Abraham Lincoln. I recently heard several talking points arguing that Bush is holding firm just like Lincoln did during our Civil War.

This is of course absurd on the face, even though it implies recognition of the fact that Iraq in in a civil war - something Bush has never admitted. Someone should tell him that these are two entirely different Civil Wars.

And there is another fact that seems to have evaded him. During our Civil War, Iraq - as it is called today - was three separate provinces in the Ottoman Empire, with the whole thing run by the Turks. The Turks did NOT send an army of 150,000 to the dis-United States to bring Ottoman values to the warring North Americans. The Turks were arrogant, but not that arrogant.
