Fight! Fight! Fight!:war of words between Obama and McCain
The war of words between Sens. Barack Obama, D-Illinois, and John McCain, R-Ariz., is heating up even more.

Their snarling, via press releases, began after McCain (and former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney) this morning slammed Obama's vote against funding for US troops.

Obama fired back, saying “This country is united in our support for our troops, but we also owe them a plan to relieve them of the burden of policing someone else’s civil war. Governor Romney and Senator McCain clearly believe the course we are on in Iraq is working, but I do not. And if there ever was a reflection of that it's the fact that Senator McCain required a flack jacket, ten armored Humvees, two Apache attack helicopters, and 100 soldiers with rifles by his side to stroll through a market in Baghdad just a few weeks ago."

McCain returned fire with this statement:

"While Senator Obama's two years in the U.S. Senate certainly entitle him to vote against funding our troops, my service and experience combined with conversations with military leaders on the ground in Iraq lead me to believe that we must give this new strategy a chance to succeed because the consequences of failure would be catastrophic to our nation's security.

3. McCain is an idiot to pick a 'war of words' with someone like Obama.
He'll be eviscerated....

4. Senator McCain your "service and experience"
Edited on Fri May-25-07 03:01 PM by BOSSHOG
should put you way left of Senator Obama relative to the Iraq War. I salute you Sir and thank you for your service and sacrifices to our country but you are totally fucking wrong about Iraq. Meanwhile our kids continue to die and you are enabling that to happen. You continue to support the liar in the white house. There can be no pride in that.

6. Perfectly said, BOSSHOG
I used to respect Sen. McCain, but not anymore.

Look up "enabler" in Webster's and his picture should be next to the definition.

5. McCain must be second-guessing his courting of the left during the past 5 years.
His 5-year stint of opposing Bush elevated his status among independents and those leaning left, but his current Insane Rightwing Zealot routine has just about everyone thinking he's irrelevant.

9. Buzz, what 5-year stint of opposing Bush are you talking about?
I can't seem to remember him standing up to Chucklenuts on anything.

Oh, wait a minute, the infamous "torture bill", which Chucklenuts signed and then added his signing statement basically telling McCain to F-off...

Actually the better word to use for McCain is "quisling" rather than "enabler".

10. But, but, McCain voted against funding the tropps before he voted for it!!
He also then voted against overriding a veto when shrub denied the troops funding. Why does he hate the troops?
